Learning ink wash: A month of struggle and growth.
I've been learning ink wash painting for about a month now. I've been practicing consistently three to four times a week, spending an average of three hours per session. Until very recently, I really struggled because I just couldn't get the lines to go where I wanted them to. Many days, I spent the entire time just practicing lines before heading home.
I felt really frustrated because I seemed to struggle with my lines and progress much slower than others. I even used AI to analyze why I was having such a hard time. Then just a few days ago, it finally started to click, and I began to draw more freely. While I still find it challenging to master the right balance of water and ink in my brush, I can definitely see progress compared to when I first started. Here are some of the pieces I've worked on. (the final ones)
These two are the works from my practice sessions. (I'm also taking some calligraphy classes alongside my ink wash painting.)
To be honest, this is only a small fraction of my daily practice, but I took photos of a few to share.
Although I'm slow, I have a goal in my mind, so I'm committed to keep practicing and working hard.
