Ok fine, a very quick explanation for non Polish folks:

Juliusz Słowacki (left) and Adam Mickiewicz (right) were two, I would say, most popular romantic Polish poets who were pretty much at war with each other.

Adam Mickiewicz motto was "Poland is the Christ of Nations". Idea developed from messianism after the 1830 uprising. He compared the partitions and general suffering to a crucifixion that was suppose to led to a salvation eventually.

Juliusz Słowacki, on the other hand, didn't like the idea of sitting on your ass, taking suffering and pain and waiting for god to maybe save people one day. As a response to messianism he came up with winkelriedyzm.

Arnold Winkelried was a hero who sacrificed his life to let his people win. In the work "Kordian", one of Słowacki's character said "Poland is the Winkelried of Nations".

The idea of winkelriedyzm was against passive suffering, it emphasized the sense of active fight, of actually doing something.
