Oh Beom-seok is a character that I have a hard time formulating a solid opinion on. After watching the show I came away with an opinion that doesn’t really differ from the rest of the fandom, I don’t like Beom-seok both because of his actions and what he did after.

Years of abuse at school and home obviously led to him harboring negative emotions that ended up with Su-ho in a coma and his friendship with Si-eun permanently altered. Beom-seok is a very complex character with understandable emotions and unforgiving able actions.

His trauma is often used by the fandom to deflect from his actions that he willingly did. He willingly paid Woo-young, beat up Su-ho when he already down, tampered with his bike, and so much more.

While at the end of the series he does show remorse he does not take accountability or even attempt to apologize to Si-eun

He blames Young-yi for no reason, keep in mind that Beom-seok had an opportunity to apologize even if it wasn’t accepted( and rightfully so) but he didn’t. He knowingly plants a seed of guilt in Young-yi when confronting her. And finds a way to make it seem like she was the one who put Su-ho in a coma.Then he simply walks away from her knowing that he caused tremendous damage to her mental state

And that’s what makes his actions so unforgivable to me, his lack of responsibility and self awareness keep me from ever fully empathizing with him. Beom-seok does not deserve the pity and forgiveness that the fandom keeps giving him.

Oh Beom-seok is not a perfect victim but he is a character who’s so blinded by his insecurities and emotions that he deflects and shifts blame to people who had nothing to do with his misfortune like Su-ho and Young-yi.

In conclusion screw Beom-seok for both his actions and goalpost shifting he’s not your poor misunderstood baby who made a mistake.
