people often mention how it's amazing that in just one decade disney has managed to turn star wars, one of the biggest events of the 20th and 21st centuries, into a slop-churning machine of diminishing returns most people don't pay attention to anymore and yes... that IS extraordinary. it's a level of incompetent corporatethink for the ages. but frankly, to me, the real feat is that a franchise riding on literally two (2) excellent movies from 1977 and 1980 and one acceptable end to the trilogy followed by decades of more or less total garbage managed to become one of the most successful and consistently popular properties of all time in the first place... like wow
