my biggest word of advice to anyone scared to post their work/ocs/involve themselves in creative spaces online is to earnestly get interested in other people. be kind to others, like/reblog their work, tell them what you like about their work, get to know them as people.

this isn’t to “weasel” your way into anything or having ulterior motives or whatever. if you become friends with someone then that’s great! but there’s always something very personal about posting any kind of creative work. we’re all trying our best to connect with each other and the best way to get comfortable is to get to know others and show up as yourself. 🫶🏾

I think it's important to remember that every single religion can be twisted for violence and oppression and abuse and control. Yes, including the one that you think can't be. But quickly, before anti-theists start saying that religion is an inherently evil violence accelerant, remember that this is true for any ideology, including anti-theism. Violence and oppression and abuse and control happens wherever there are people who think that those things will help them get what they want.

sorry to be raining on our collective Pride parades. two college freshmen (both boys) in my extremely homophobic country of Indonesia are facing threats of expulsion for an act of PDA that got recorded on the 2nd of June.

as a local queer, I'm posting this to condemn this act, and I feel some kind of responsibility to spread this information to a wider, international audience, of how far we as a society have fallen.

to my fellow queer Indonesians, please stay safe and take care of yourselves. don't let them silence you.

to my out queer international audience: be out and proud and spare a thought for us who are closeted and/or hiding our true colours.

i appreciate this, but in a world where your gay brothers and sisters are being actively punished if not outright killed for having sex—in a fascist society that is trying to make gay sex a crime and has successfully done so in the past, in ways that still harm us today—we have GOT to be there for gay sex and the people having it. it doesn’t make you any less gay not to have sex, but that’s not something bigots are going to take into account, and if they do, it only stands to make you “one of the good ones” and pit you against your siblings and loved ones. whether someone personally wants sex or not, i think we have a responsibility to defend the people who do just as much as the people who don’t.
