         nooj wasn’t particularly fond of the blindfold.  well… not in this scenario, anyway. he feared being led into a room full of people ready to celebrate the one day he spent three hundred and sixty-four days ( sixty-five on a leap year ) dreading ( never mind the fact that he didn’t exactly have more than a handful of friends, so that fear couldn't possibly become reality ). when the blindfold was removed, he opens his eyes hesitantly but all there was to see were two dogs, a banner, and a tickled yuna, nooj found himself sighing with relief before smiling in response to her laughter. he approved. even more so after her kiss.

         nooj took the chain and held it up, cocking his brow slightly. he gave the stone a long, hard look. knowing virote, there was a message behind it. nooj had come to learn that all these stones, and crystals, and flowers had secret meanings to them. he’d ask the name and look it up later. that aside he gave a glance to the cheesecake. it looked to be dark chocolate..? and if he had to guess, it would prove to be more bitter than most. virote was aware of nooj’s distaste for sweets. the gifts were simple but according to nooj’s stardanrds, extremely thoughtful. and despite his indifference towards the day, he couldn't help the hint of a smile forming on his face. though it began to fade soon enough as virote began his ‘speech’… that could be why he ended it so quickly.

modern verse relationship: college      — meyvn — 

     meyvn is a german shepherd who once served in the marines k-9 unit. during nooj’s service, he and meyvn grew to be very close. the dog became more of a brother than any human in nooj’s unit. after nooj’s accident, when he was discharged, meyvn became very depressed and was unable to carry out his duties. word of this soon reached the hospital, intended for nooj, but at the time, he was in no state to receive or respond to letters. so his grandfather took it upon himself to respond, and having received letters from nooj before about meyvn and knowing how much his grandson loved the dog, nooj’s grandfather was quick to offer a solution: give meyvn to nooj. he was well aware service dogs were usually offered to law enforcement before the adoption option, however, he still pleaded and insisted it would do them both some good to have each other to lean on while adjusting to the civilian life.

the point made by nooj’s grandfather was undeniable, and soon enough, meyvn had been discharged from the marines and adopted by nooj. the paperwork, of course, was handled by nooj’s grandfather. the whole transaction however, had been kept a secret from nooj. when meyvn arrived it during an extremely low point for nooj. for a while now he had been refusing to move, eat, drink or speak, but that changed quickly when his grandfather entered his room with meyvn in tow. when the two saw each other, life instantly came back to them and they greeted like old friends. their reuinion marked the first step toward’s nooj’s recovery. 

modern:       — college au — ireneusz matkowski /eren matthews. age: 23

      eren matthews ( known as nooj to his friends ) was born with a sense of duty and a willingness to protect. his dream was to join the military, and by the age of 17, that was exactly what he did. he was the perfect physical candidate, though mentally, in hindsight, some may have said he had a few screws loose, but it didn’t stop him from proving himself to be one of the, if not the best, marine in training.

after his twelve weeks of training, nooj was itching to get out there. he was dying to prove himself. three years later nooj would find himself honorably discharged. over the course of those three years he came to be known as the bravest soldier his unit had ever known. never afraid to risk his life to save or protect another. but they knew little of what was really going on inside nooj’s mind and that he had developed an unhealthy fascination with death. but surprisingly, it wasn’t this fascination that lead him to being discharged. 

he was in the trenches with a newer recruit at the time, doing his best to encourage the other to go on. a bullet and bomb rain as their ambiance. as the soldier came to and decided to heed nooj’s words, the two of them began to move, then they heard a call come from the air ‘grenade!’ and not far behind them it fell. nooj was quick to move and push the soldier further away, the blast however, sent nooj into the air. he was found in critical condition and sent back to base asap. 

one month later, when he came to, he found himself in a hospital bed. his grandfather and his best friend, virote srisati, at his side. the two of them explained in as much detail as they were given, but nooj could hardly hear them, but he began to tune in again when his grandfather informed him of the loss of his leg, and at last when he was given a letter from his commanding officer and his certificate for honorable discharge, nooj lost it. he remained in the hospital for another two month for physical and psychological rehabilitation. he kept an extreme close eye on due to his severe depression and several attempts at suicide. 

nooj was released before his twenty-first birthday, and he went to live with his grandfather. however, he did not stay long. his grandfather had been dealing with his own health issues, and try as he might, everything he did seemed to only make nooj angry. the stress was not good for him and three weeks after nooj moved in, his grandfather was admitted to the hospital. for a time, nooj was idle, but he found that remaining idle took him back to a place that, for his grandfather’s sake, he would rather not be in, and so, with the help of his best friend, he enrolled himself in college. a business major and history minor. not long after, unable to remain alone in his grandfather’s house, nooj moved in as virote’s roommate.

You’re a little tough and prickly on the outside, but around people you trust and like, you’re actually nurturing and a total mom friend. If people take the time to work past your barbs — like your pessimistic and sometimes mean sense of humor, tbh — you reward them with loyalty.
