"You should always keep us in your memory, young warrior."
Another day, another glance at clock in the temple of Bevelle. ‘ Please call it your home and feel as comfortable as possible ‘ they said, courtesy to his dad’s friend who brought the small blond shy boy into the temple after Sin attacked Killika - his former home. The real home, his only home ever. Cerulean orbs stared at the small necklace in his hands, playing with the material and taking ever so cautious glances at the small blue stone in the middle. A keepsake. He was meant to keep this... safe. What for? Why... was he still here when no one else was? What... fate would befall him? Was... fighting Sin an option? He had used his time in the library of the temple, reading up on what his parents had called the ‘ curse of a long forgotten war ‘. He had no means of understanding that, reading was difficult as he had never truly been taught. The blond was alright with reading books now. It probably took more time and effort, but he was still learning---learning to know that fighting a creature like that---calm after calm---was a useless struggle.
In fact it meant sacrificing yourself for a few years of piece. Sacrifices... his parents... Naruto bit down on his bottom lip, tears welling up in his eyes. Dad’s smile and the strong touch of his hand around his son’s small ones as cerulean orbs glanced up at him curiously ( asking quietly ‘ where are you going to, dad? ‘ just to receive a kind grin and ‘ I’ll defeat the monster and then come back for you ‘ ). But no one, no one had visited him in this long, long and silent, lonely month. His mother’s eyes and tears were still burning in his memories, a silent plea for Naruto to go with his uncle as she hugged him once, saying goodbye with a kiss to his forehead and a small smile playing around her thin lips as she left, left his vision, left his life. He wondered if keeping these memories alive was a form of torment, bitter tears running down his cheek as he sat on top of the steps of the temple.
“Stupid. Fighting when you know you’d lose,” he murmured and got up, grabbing his small bag before turning on his heels to run into the temple. The blond hadn’t fully taken the first step, when the collision happened. Realising his fault, Naruto reached out a hand to hold the small girl’s body before she could fall onto her back. “I am so sorry,” he said, wiping his tears away with one hand while helping her up with the other. “I didn’t see you there, really, I am sorry.” The blond took a step back, noticing he had almost made a mess of the girl’s clothes; that beautiful dress hugging her slim frame. She was even slightly taller than him, which had Naruto take a step back. What caught him mostly off guard were her eyes...
He stared at her for a moment. Oh, how embarrassing, he thought to himself. “I-I am Naruto!!! I-I... I am new here!”
