"My girlfriend and I are dogsitting." He explains, not wanting to say that its actually his soulmate girlfriend making that noise. "I think she wants attention. I'll probably have to wrap up soon."

after his blatant lie and dismissal her whining gets louder, nell no longer caring how interruptive it is.

"- so the next pack we're about to crack is from the most recent set Wizards has released. It has a couple of cards that are gonna offer really good value, depending on what kind of deck you're playing. We'll see what we get, and how they can work with the existing meta."

she's been a patient girl so far, lounging on the makeshift nest full of blankets and pillows gathered from the whole flat near his set-up. writing lyrics and doodling silly drawings into her notebook and she has even managed to wash her hair, lotion her body and do extensive skin care whilst matt's making them money.

Billie cares about it less now that they're in the quiet afterglow, grabbing her own phone to peruse a few posts until Nell rolls back over. There's one from an old friend back in El Paso expecting her first baby, framing the tiny bump with her hands as she smiles at the camera.

Just like Nell is when she rolls back over, and Billie extends an arm for the other woman to lay on, encouraging the other to snuggle against her side.

When she does, and that little belly presses against Billie's, her eyebrows start to furrow.

"i always have fun with you too. " she noses into billie's shoulder, humming softly. her hand rests on her belly, subconsciously caressing the slight bump in affectionate strokes.

they always seemed fine at the time, though. it's just that some people are better when you haven't really had the opportunity to talk to them that much, and spoil it after more conversation.

tedi's answer is confusing. deeply so. since, really,

In truth, it's something Morgan truly admires about Tedi - that she has zero problem talking back or questioning when something isn't right. He's too used to flying under the radar or needing to be inconspicuous to want to rock the boat.

it is perhaps good that Morgan isn't present when she gives the waitress, and then the manager, a piece of her mind. gesticulates a lot, voice raised but not yet yelling. tedi's body language screaming anything but friendly and calm.

when she turns around to walk back over to their table, the waitress has to blink back tears. okay, tedi feels a tiny bit bad.

"no. of course i don't."

admittedly, sometimes she doesn't know them very well when they fuck, but they always seem likeable enough. for the purposes of what cross wants them for, that is. they don't have to be, like, amazing.

she scrunches her nose in disbelief. " can't be true. you must've fucked at least one person you didn't like before. "

cross' question is loaded. why does tedi fuck people she doesn't like? self-hatred? lack of options? - sexuality is, after all, not something she could've chosen for herself.
