Machu Picchu Restaurant and Lounge in Charlotte, NC
While staying at the Inn Davidson, in Davidson, North Carolina, we encountered an employee that we have recommended a Peruvian meal at his favorite restaurant called Machu Picchu in Independence Boulevard in Charlotte, about 20 miles south of the River Inn. The restaurant is a little 'back from the road with a large parking lot in front and a non-descript boxy exterior. Inside, the airy interior is decorated with lemon colored walls, large side windows and a raised central bar area with flat screen TV. A Spanish radio station playing dance songs softly in the background adds to the atmosphere. The only special feature is the restaurant's ceiling is painted black and has a number of disco lights and a glitter ball hanging it.Having never eaten anything like this kind of food before, I had no expectations, but my husband did . He visited Peru in 1990 and was looking forward to fresh seafood and lively flavors. We went in for lunch and were greeted at the door server who spoke Spanish - a good sign of a real restaurant. A little later, Rena's manager, came to greet us. When he found out it was our first visit gave us examples of a very traditional drink Chicha Morada Peruvian purple corn-based. It seemed beet juice, but had none of the flavors of beet land. Instead it was a juice sweet and spicy, with rich flavors of cinnamon and cloves, but it reminded me of mulled wine without alcohol. tiny pieces of crispy something to float on top. Rena said that was cooked with pineapple juice and then mixed with lime juice to give a fresh kick. He said the floating objects were pieces of fresh apple. We liked the Chicha so much that we ordered two glasses full size ($ 2 each) for an appetizer we ordered SALAD Rusa ($ 4) -. Peruvian interpretation of Russian potato salad. E 'come on a cold plate and was due to mauve beet in it. The flavors of other vegetables including peas, yellow corn, diced carrots and green beans were overwhelmed by the taste of the potatoes. The overall flavor was OK, but I would not order it again. For the main course my husband ordered de Asado sandwich - made with steak, but instead I Sandwich de pollo ($ 4.50) - chicken. The chicken was juicy, tasty with grilled onions, crisp lettuce on top and bottom of a sandwich on whole wheat flour. E 'was great. I had Sudado de mariscos ($ 12) - a stew of fish steamed in a tomato-based broth. It arrived in a bowl of soup with oversized green mussels, clams, shrimp, octopus, fish, squid rings, and half a crab in its shell on top for garnish. The octopus, tentacles still attached, was soft and delicious. In fact, all the seafood was extremely fresh tasting as if it had been caught that morning. The tomato soup was hearty with chunks of thick yucca, onion slices, red pepper and fresh coriander. The dish came with a large portion of white rice on a side dish. It 'was a very nice dish - Peruvian food appealing to me - and could have easily pulled a higher price for only $ 12. By the time dessert, Machu Picchu had spent most of the menu selections. All that remained was mazamorra Morada ($ 2.50) - a pudding made with purple corn juice, prunes and pineapple. Rena said it was a very traditional dessert in Peru. It 'been a little sweet taste of the drink Chicha but with chunks of canned pineapple and prunes. Topped with a sprinkling of cinnamon was a perfect light and refreshing dessert for a hot summer, the food excellent restaurant day.Machu Picchu has made him want to visit his namesake in Peru.If this is what Peruvian food is supposed to then taste as I go in search of restaurants when I get home. The next time I'm in Charlotte, I'm going to go to Machu Picchu and another fish dish.Located: 4715 East Independence BoulevardCharlotte, NC 28212-5303704-449-0130Sources: http://purplecorn.wordpress.com/2007 / 10/16/chicha-morada-magic /

Buying Guide to Alaska Cruise Vacations
Alaska: a land of whale watching, frozen, natural wonders, salmon farms, and more. If you're like many travelers, who prefer to see this state from the perspective of a cruise ship, where all services are fine there waiting when you return from an exciting adventure by dogsled and kayak trips ashore. But buying a travel itinerary can be a bit confusing. Here are some key questions to ask yourself before buying an Alaskan cruise ticket.1. How long will I travel? Most Alaska cruise itineraries ranging from 7 to 10 days, with some trips lasting 2 weeks. If the cruise you are interested in is a little shorter than you want, ask about adding a package tour organized by the cruise line. Many of the great lines invite passengers to stay in boutique accommodations in the port cities like Skagway, Sitka, Juneau, Whittier, or Ketchikan. Will be collected after several days by another ship operated by the cruise line, and taken back to their port city at a designated time. Note: these trips are not cheap, by any means, and that could cost you double the itself.2 cruise ticket. What is my holiday budget, and I'm willing to splurge? Alaska cruises are more affordable cruise around, but the sites are clean, and abundant opportunities for adventure. Expect to pay about twice that if it were a Caribbean cruise itinerary. Note that the price quoted includes food, accommodation and world-class entertainment while on the boat. The tour price does not include: airfare to and from your city of departure (unless otherwise arranged), the activities once they are off the ship in port cities, tips for wait staff cruise (unless otherwise indicated), alcoholic beverages or spa services available on ships.3. Would I like to go on a cruise with the cold weather? If you've sailed before a tropical destination, definitely will have to decide if traveling north is for you. Alaska cruises usually run from May to September, and average daytime temperatures can vary from 64 degrees (high) to 39 degrees (low). Freezing by any means, but it cools at night with the sea breeze. It is best to talk to someone who has taken this type of cruise before, or contact a travel agent who may have some experienced advice to offer, in case you are wondering if an Alaska cruise is right for you. Generally, you will get a better deal booking through a travel agent online on the website of the cruise line. Private agencies to gain access to special offers, and may offer additional incentives for booking through them, as free upgrades on board the car or credit. Can handle airline reservations, so you will have a flight that arrives at its port city (in general, Seattle or Vancouver) long before boarding. In addition, an agent can give you special requests such as dining times, or help you celebrate a special event like a honeymoon, birthday, or anniversary. If ready to buy an Alaskan cruise, I would recommend the following cruise lines: Royal Caribbean: It is hard to beat when Royal Caribbean cruise. Featuring an elegant decor, pleasant dining, and a representative for the treatment of the royal guests, these cruises have a lot to offer guests of all ages-children great teen programs, too.Princess: This company has a great reputation in the field, and was the recommendation of my travel agent for a honeymoon cruise great Alaska. Many customers of this line are older travelers, younger middle-aged couples or families.Celebrity: a new line in the industry, Celebrity Cruises has a reputation among young travelers in their 20's and 30's . This class of ships, and you may find that their prices are a little higher than others. However, you get what you pay, and guest Celebrity praises of these cruises have been very favorable.Carnival: As an honorable mention, I'd recommend a Carnival cruise for children or individuals who seek to have a good time. Known as "ships of the parties," the Carnival fleet is bright, lively, and accessible, but not worth the price if you are looking for a quiet and intimate with your partner other.Buying a cruise to Alaska not have to be a sticky ordeal. With the help of an agent and a thoughtful pre-planning, you can buy tickets and be on your way to the adventure of a lifetime.

Luxury Dinner Cruise in Naples, Florida
Then one time, it is possible to stumble upon a unique, fun and satisfying event for a vacation home. Our family found such an activity when we recently went on vacation in Naples, Florida. An internet search has led to a website with information dinner cruises aboard a luxury yacht named the Naples Princess. A phone call from our apartment showed that yes, they were sailing in the evening, and yes, they had room for my family, a group of eight. The menu also sounded pretty good too! Reservations were booked immediately, and their representatives gave me specific directions, which was very handy as I had never been to Naples before.About an hour later we were all pulled into the Port O Call Port area, bought our tickets and boarded the beautiful , luxurious, 94 'yacht Naples Princess. The ship had two levels, with full bars on both, an open air observation deck on both the bow and stern. Moreover, there was a covered outdoor deck at the stern on the second level. The very clean heads was the first level. Our cruise started at 7:00 PM, and within about 5 minutes from the cast off dinner was served. And what a dinner it was! Buffet, all you can eat BBQ ribs to die for, baked chicken breast that melted in the mouth, with both supplemented with white beans, garlic potatoes, coleslaw and rolls. Included in the meal was either coffee or water. The whole field was soft and normal "bar fare" is available as an additional cost. The seating was at tables arranged for your party, and all eight of us had plenty of elbow room at our table. The seats were very comfortable, crisp linen, porcelain, and lights to dim light in the dining room. The interior of the rooms were finished in a dark wood, with tinted glass that allows for excellent viewing in all directions. This ship was very elegant, and the crew made us feel that the most important passengers to ever race in the Naples Princess. On our cruise, it was just another 20 or so people, so we all had plenty of room to maneuver around the ship. After dinner was over (did I mention the delicious cheesecake, caramel cake and carrot cake we had for dessert?) Focus our attention entirely to the magnificent view from any position on the ship. The captain was the narration as we cruised along, guide our vision to interesting sites along the waterway between the mainland and an area called the Ten Thousand Islands. His story was loud enough to be heard, but it was in any way overwhelming if you wanted to make conversation with people around you. The "home" (actually mansions) that we saw was honestly indescribable. Most were 5000 square feet and up, some with guest houses as big as most peoples primary residences. It is hard to imagine that many of these homes was "just winter homes". Some vacant lots are still available for only 4-6000000 dollars, if you are interested. In Besides the pretty developed area, we were treated to see any natural, pristine mangrove islands, complete with a wide assortment of birds. A real treat was the sighting of several dolphins who frolicked of our vessels for a while. The sea was too rough night of our cruise to venture out into the Gulf of Mexico, but it was certainly not a disappointment to any great extent, as the cruise was wonderful, but the bay. I spoke with Jim Albert, captain of the Naples Princess, about his feelings but in this business. A Navy veteran, he loves his job, pilots the ship three times a week, and thoroughly, along with their passengers. I learned from him that Chief Dana had prepared all our meals on board its own kitchen. Jim said that she has been a chef for 13 years, and is himself capable of preparing food for the 100th The only time she needs help is when the ship board lot goes over 100. And her kitchen is very small! What a wonderful time we all had on this cruise. Good food, good company, extraordinary service, and a scenic panorama presented in a way that most people will never see. That night we sailed a price special was in place, with a buy one adult get second half price offer. Thus, with $ 65 as a high price was our price for two adults only $ 97.50. We had a child, including half price, and our youngest grandson was free. A very reasonable fee for a very entertaining evening. When you visit Naples, do not you dare miss a cruise on the Naples Princess!
