Parental yandere hippy family
Reader gets adopted unknowingly
"Kimberley! " Kim wakes up with a fright. Her mother is standing in front of her bed, an angry expression on her face. Through the window, she can see that it's still nightime.
Kim quickly tries to think of everything that her mother could be so angry about that she would wake her up in the middle of the night . About a thousand ideas come too mind.
She honestly doesn't consider herself to be a particularly terrible daughter. She just doesn't fit into the tiny world her parents want her to confine herself to.
It's honestly a joke what they consider rebellious. She likes to wear short dresses sometimes. So what? She hangs out with both boys and girls at school, and worst of all... She dares too express her opinion sometimes.
She knows her parents are ashamed of her. Sometimes she even thinks they regret having her. They see her as an embarrassing stain on their perfect reputation.
Her mother lifts her hand, and Kim, knowing what to expect, braces herself for impact. The slap hurts. She can tell that her mother meant it, that there was real hatred behind it. She would probably do more if she didn't think that was embarrassing too, she thought bitterly.
Then, her mother opens her moth again, eyebrows drawn down in anger. Time for the moment of truth. What did Kim do this time?
"did you kiss Mary?!" her mother screams at her, voice quivering in anger.
Kim can feel her blood turn too ice. She has no idea how her mother found out about that. She kissed her in a game of truth or dare, and honestly almost forgot about the incident.
Her mother takes the scared look on her face as conformation and her anger visibly deepens into full on rage.
"I knew I should never have moved too California!" she screams. Then she takes a deep breath, clearly trying to collect herself, and calmly says "your father is waiting for us downstairs. Clearly, you don't want to listen to me, soI think it's time he talks to you."
Kim gets up and starts walking downstairs on shaky legs. Her mother was horrible, but at least she found it unwomanly to strike her daughter.
Her father had no such qualms.
Downstairs, she was met by her silent father, standing in front of the couch with a serious expression.
Cautiously, she stood right at the doorstep, not daring to approach the angry man.
Unfortunately, he had other plans. With his fingers he ordered her closer.
Almost as soon as she was close enough to grab, he did. Kim let out a frightened yelp and tried her best to protect her body, but it was of no use. His hand rained down on her like thunder and by the time he was done, she was a crying shaking mess on the living room floor.
With a stern voice her father addressed her one last time " I don't know what kind of crazy ideas you got from those homeless people, but this is a traditional household. You will not act like them. You are my daughter. You belong to me and so you listen to me" with that, he left the room with no regard for her still on the carpet.
Kim cclosed her eyes and let the cool tears stream down her face. She would leave for school tomorrow and then never come back. She just couldn't take this anymore.
With a new found determination, she carefully lifted her bruised body and limped her way up the stairs.
In her room, she emptied the contents of her school bag, hiding her notebooks and pens beneath her mattress instead. Then, she filled the bag with everything she thought she would need, clothes and toiletries replacing books and folders.
Her heart was racing the whole time, terrified to wake up her parents. Once she was done, she climbed back into bed and spent the last couple of hours until sunrise trying to come up with a plan.
The next morning, she sat at the table as usual. Her mother tried to pretend like nothing had happened, but the energy between the three of them was tense and uncomfortable.
Then, she got on the bus as usual and got of at school as usual. Except, instead of going inside, she carefully snuck into the bushes by the entrance and from there into a small patch of threes sorounding the school yard
Once she was sure that no one could see her anymore, she started sprinting towards the bus stop. She had about twenty minutes before the school would realize she was missing. She wanted to get to the city Center before that and hide amongst the crowds of downtown LA.
The bus ride gave her a second to breathe and collect herself. The reality of what she had done was starting to sind in and she could feel her hands start to shake.
More than once she was tempted to turn back, but then she would remember her father's face and a new wave of determination would fill her.
She was so lost in her little mental spiral, that she almost missed her stop.
The streets were filled with people and music and Kim felt a tiny flame of optimism deep within her chest.
But she also felt scared. She had achieved exactly what she wanted, she had gotten lost amidst the sea of people and she started feeling a little overwhelmed.
With a brisk pace she fled into one of the less busy side streets.
She wandered down her new path for a while, until she heard a woman beside her. "aren't you supposed to be at school darling?" the unfamiliar voice questioned. It was a woman with long black hair and tan skin in a colourful flowy dress. She was sitting on a blanket with home made necklaces and jewellery spread out in front of her. She was clearly here too sell them.
Kim didn't know how to respond, so she tried to just keep it moving instead and ignore the woman.
She clearly had other plans though and shouted after her "wait! Wait! I'm sorry"
Kim felt like it wouldn't be right to just keep walking, so she stopped and looked back at the woman expectantly.
"do you want something to eat? You look hungry" she said in a kind tone, clearly afraid too spook her and have her run of again.
Kim knew she probably shouldn't accept the woman's offer, but that morning at the breakfast table she had barely been able to eat anything, nerves preventing, and while she was packing, she was restricted too her room and small bathroom since she couldn't wake up her parents.
In the end, she hesitantly approached the woman who smiled and patted the spot next to her, inviting Kim to join her on her blanket. Hesitantly, she did.
After she sat down, the woman reached behind her to pull out a bag that Kim had missed the first time she looked at her. From said bag, the woman pulled out a croissant and handed it to her. Then, she asked her a question "what's you name, darling?" she said. "Kimberly." she replied "Kimberly?" the woman repeated her name with a smile. Kim nodded. Then she added "but everyone calls me Kim." the woman picked up something from the blanket in front of her. Now that Kim was closer, she could see that she was working on a bracelet, expertly weaving colourfull string and beads into a beautiful design.
Kim took a big bite of her croissant and watched her with interest. Then, she suddenly remembered basic manners and through chews she asked "what's you name? Oh and thank you for the food." the woman chuckled and through her smile she replied "Nita. And you're welcome.". Kim nodded thoughtfully. She had never heard a name like that before.
Kim took a deep breath and closed her eyes for a moment too let herself enjoy the cool breeze.
For the first time since she had gotten on that bus, she could feel her heart start too settle. Sitting here with Nita, she felt safe and protected.
Suddenly a new fear started to sneak its way into her chest. After she was done eating, she would be alone again.
So she tried to slow down. Suddenly every bit needed to be dainty like her mother had taught her.
Nita noticed her strange nibbles and asked in a concerned tone "what's wrong? Don't you like the croissant?". Kim felt bad about making Nita feel like her gift wasn't apreaciated, so with a nervous sigh, she answered honestly "no it's nice... I just don't know where I'm gonna go after this. I was just trying to stay here a little longer. I'm sorry."
While saying this, Kim had turned her head down I'm shame, so she couldn't see the strange look crossing Nita's face at her words. By the time she locked up at Nita again to watch her expression while she replied, it was gone, replaced by fake concern "what do you mean darling? Don't you have a home?" she asked.Kim looked down again in shame before shaking her head. Nita then reached out with her hand, using it to lift her face back up towards hers. "oh darling. I'm so sorry about that. If you'd like, you could stay with me. A sweet little thing like you doesn't belong in the streets."
Kim could feel a tear run down her face at those words. She quickly turned away to wipe it discreetly, though she knew that Nita had definitely seen it already anyways.
Once she had collected herself a bit, she turned back towards Nita and nodded. She felt she owed Nita a proper reply though, so she swallowed down her tears and in a wobly voice she said "thank you so much. I don't know what I'd do without you" Nita just smiled and hugged her tightly.
The two stayed together until lunch time. And while they were sitting there, Nita told Kim all about her life and where she lived. "it's a beautiful house! I have a bedroom bathroom and small sitting room there, that's where you're gonna be sleeping from now on, and everything else, we share. The living room, the kitchen, everything. It's so beautiful, we're a real community. I sell jewellery and sew, David repairs old furniture and sells it once he's done, Cynthia sews as well and she mainly takes care of our garden , where we grow most of our food. We try to stay connected too Mother earth. Keneth is the last member of the family. He works at an auto repair shop and he can also crochet. We sell his pieces at the market with the clothes Cynthia and I made. "she explained. Kim was more than happy to listen, fascinated by the lifestyle so different from hers. She felt like she had been living her life in the past in a way, her parents still stuck on the ways of the 50s and early 60s, and now here was this modern woman, willing to share her freedom with her. It was incredibly exciting. However a thought quickly crossed her mind. "how will I earn my stay?" she asked. Nita looked at her with a strange expression that Kim couldn't read, then she replied in a serious tone "you are doing more than you think by being there. It's us who have to earn you." Kim could tell that there was a much deeper meaning behind those words, but it eluded her completely. In a way, the strange statement actually scared her a bit, but Nita was quick to move on and continue their interesting conversation. Kim quickly forgot about it again.
Once lunch finnaly came around though, the two of them got up though. They had sold a surprising amount of jewellery, and had gathered enough money now to get themselves a small treat on their way too the house.
Nita let Kim choose what that treat was going too be, and she didn't have to think long. Almost immediately, she excitedly exclaimed "hot fudge Sunday!". Then she remembered how entirely unbecoming of her that was and quickly dulled down her excitement again. When she looked over at Nita though, she realize that her worry had been unnecessary. She looked just as happy as she was and was looking at her with a huge smile. Kim felt relief wash over her as she realized that Nita wasn't like her parents. With slight shock, she realized that she even felt safe around an adult for the first time in her life.
The dessert was absolutely amazing, and Kim couldn't wipe the smile of her face if she tried. Nita had ordered the desert to eat out and Kim quickly realize why. She had taken her too a beautiful spot overlooking the ocean. It was clearly a secret spot since Nita and her were the only people there and Kim felt completely comfortable and safe.
After eating, the two of them finally headed too the house and words honestly couldn't describe how excited Kim felt to finally see her new home.
The house was just as beautiful as Nita had promised. There was plants everywhere and you could see handcrafted objects were ever you looked.
Nita's room was upstairs, and just as promised she had a bathroom, a small room with a couch and a bookshelf, and a bedroom at the back. From her windows you could see the garden and, just like the rest of the house, you could tell just by looking at it how much love went into it.
"so.. What do you think?" Nita asked behind her. "I love it!" Kim replied excitedly.
Nita's smile grew wide and she cheerfuly said "it's time to make lunch now! We always cook together so you'll get to meet everyone now." then she took her hand and led her back downstairs.
Kim was greeted by three slightly confused adults. It made her a bit nervous, especially when they all shared a meaninful look that she couldn't understand. It was like the four were having a wordless conversation, speaking in a language only they could understand.
One of the men noticed her discomfort though and quickly send a reassuring smile her way "hi. I'm David." he said in a soft voice. Kim ahd never heard a man speaking softly like this before. In her previous life, it felt to her as if men were something to be feared, but David didn't scare her right now. He seemed warm and inviting. "hi. I'm Kim" she said, slowly starting to gain some confidence.
The rest of the group quickly intruduced themselves as well and before she knew it, they were all standing in the kitchen together.
Kim had been given the task of the washing the vegetables. Cynthia was standing right next to her, cutting them, and while she was washing them, she told her all about the different plants. They came from the garden, and Cynthia happily shared her wealth of knowledge with Kim.
Once she was done washing, she noticed that Cynthia was now left with a quite the pile of veggies too tackle on her own, so she shily asked "do you need any help with that? I could cut some veggies too if you'd like."
It was as if a she ahd suggested she should do this task with a chain saw. Everyone was suddenly turned in her direction, and she could hear multiple people all softly but sternly telling her no.
Every task she suggested helping with after that was deemed to dangerous by the group and so she just had too sort of stand there and watch them work. Every once in a while, someone would check in to fuss over her, looking at her bruises from yesterday or fixing her clothes or her hair. One time, David even gave her a kiss on the head.?
Lunch was delicious and the table was filled with happy laughter and lively conversation. Kim however, could feel herself growing tired though. At her very first yawn, multiple people turned to her and Kenneth reached out to stroke her hair a bit before asking "are you getting tired darling?". Kim nodded shily. Kenneth just smiled warmly at her and said "you can go to sleep in my bed after lunch if you'd like, since you don't have one yet. Don't worry about cleaning up, we'll do that for you today. You must have had such along and exciting day already." Kim justs nod great fully.
After lunch, she's tucked in by the whole group. It's honestly a bit strange and if Kim had been any more awake it probably would have bothered her more, but in her current condition she just let it happen, falling asleep within minutes.
Nita tiptoed out of the room with the rest of the family. After David had softly closed the door, they all looked at each other in silent triumph.
They had wanted to raise a child. together for a long time now, but the system wouldn't allow a modern and non traditional family like theirs to adopt. The universe always provided though, and today it had finnaly sent them the gift they had all been hoping for.
As she looked into the eyes of her family, it was as if she could hear what they were all thinking. They are going to give this angel the world.
Thank yyou guy sso much for all the love on my Otis story! I know everyone always says this, but I really wasn't expecting it :)
