Imagine living in a mansion where your parents and relatives kept secrets. How your room started to grow hot at night and your wallpaper peels off and you can't understand why. So you start investigating and discover a hidden room behind your bedroom wall, full of traps and of trinkets, a children's story book that told tales of strange creatures
You discover it belongs to your parents and some of your relatives and you want to know more. To join them on their adventures, but they leave you behind. Went out there in the world. You wait until you're old enough and begin your search. To finally belong within your family. But they changed. They're not the same anymore. Everything was wrong and you were so angry. Angry at them because they couldn't help you, so you take them out. One by one until all five of them are dead
You go home, defeated. Enraged. You try to act like everything is okay. You get into Ornithology, studying and befriending the birds at your home. You fall in love with the gardener and you hope to marry him someday. But he starts slipping from you. Gets closer to another. Another whom you slowly begin to despise
What does he see in her? Why is she the one stealing all his attention? You use one of your birds to spy on them and another person, the artist within the mansion, draws them both with a red rose being gifted. The anger you once felt builds up as you want to get rid of the girl who was stealing your fiancé. You write a threatening note, saying how you'll get rid of her
But the artist in the family starts having nightmares and wants to leave with her friend. Your jealousy spikes again because she's got what you wanted. Friends, a loving family, people who cared about her. And then you notice your uncle begins acting strange. He starts keeping secrets and you want answers. You go to the room behind your bedroom wall and begin planning. You have your trained bird steal from your uncle as you disguise yourself as a detective
You learn secrets from your uncle who wouldn't tell you if you weren't in disguise. You learn about this beetle, how powerful its scream can be when startled. You meant to use it on the girl who's stealing your fiancé, but the artist soon found out your plans. She knows too much. She will tell at any moment. Filled with fear and panic you wait for the perfect opportunity to get rid of her
You hide the beetle and position yourself so you're above her. You wait until she falls unconscious and strike. Taking her life just like you did when you were only 19. You take apart the weapon, scatter it's pieces and hurry off, acting like you were never involved. That you were just a witness to such a tragedy
But you knew you can't stay. You knew that sooner or later they'll find out but then two detectives show up and spoil everything. They uncover the truth. They know it's you and it's not fair. You spent your life not belonging anywhere, watching as everyone moved on without you. Your parents left you, your uncle kept secrets, your own fiancé was falling for another, and the artist had everything you desired. So you escape, a wanted criminal now. But it doesn't matter. Someday, you'll find your place. The place you grew up in wasn't home. Not anymore
