During the night, 45 dB is the maximum noise level in a residential area, 55 dB is the noise level at a commercial area. There was a study done in the city of Mumbai. According to the report, more than 50% area of the city witness noise levels ranging between 80 and 90 dB. The Affects of Sound Pollution On Whales
Sound carries much farther under water than it does through air. Engines of submarines and boats are affecting whales negatively even at very far lengths from the noise source.
