The Reunion of Dorks || keeper-of-hope
His mind felt so... Fuzzy. Why was it fuzzy...? The air around him... It felt hot. That's strange... In the Afterlife, there wasn't a set temperature or anything of the sort... And he felt so heavy... That was weird...
"Guardian..." Came the the odd yet feminine tone.
"Guardian... Guardian wake up!"
A groan was heard and he started to open his eyes... A bright light caused him to close it before opening them again as his vision was blurry. But once the blurriness had pass, his vision became clear and in front of him was... A woman with long blonde hair, a round face with large golden eyes, smiling at him.
"Thank goodness, you're awake! I was worried that you wouldn't wake up!"
"W-Wha...?" His voice was hoarse as if it hasn’t been used in a while. He swallowed, feeling the saliva his throat before he spoke again. “W-Who are… You?”
The woman only giggled before she reached up and helped him up in a sitting position. “I’m Tarra, your Companion, Guardian… Or should I say Atem?”
Atem’s crimson eyes widen the moment she helped him up. She felt… Real. He looked down at his hands, his skin was a light tan but he automatically touched them… Real too! It was then he looked at his clothing and he gasped. They weren’t the Pharaoh grab he was used to wearing in the Afterlife; more like they were the same clothes he wore during his Duel with Yuugi during the Ceremonial Ritual… Black tee, with blue jacket and pants and boots.
Wait… This… He looked up and saw a park… A familiar park… Could this be?!!!
“Ahhh, I see you’re figuring it out, Guardian!” Tarra grinned brightly as she got off the bench to look in front of him.
“T-Tarra… Is this…?! But how…?!”
Tarra’s eyes closed yet the grin remain on her face. “The Gods Willed it that you deserved a second chance in Life. And so… They granted you a body.”
She opened her eyes and looked at him. “Of course, there’s a condition. This is where I come in.” She pointed to herself. “That you have a companion to guide you and be here by your side until your end of days. So here I am and here we are!”
Atem only stared at her as he let the words sink in. The Gods… Granted him a body? A second chance of Life?! He filled with mixed emotions but mostly… A warmth of happiness was overfilling him as a smile appeared. The Gods granted him a wish… And here he was and…! But wait a minute… He looked at Tarra. What exactly is she? He was about to ask when--
“Okay, we’ve done enough sitting! C’mon!” Without warning, Tarra had grabbed Atem’s hand and pulled him up to his feet, causing him to gasp in shock before he was started to be dragged away.
“Ahhh, Tarra! Where we’re going?!”
Tarra only glanced over her shoulder and gave him another smile. “You shall see soon~”
That was all she said before once again, leading the way with dragging Atem behind her.
