your worst nightmare

           “I’m absolutely sure.” The smile on her lips stayed wide and genuine when she looked at him, fingers running absentmindedly through the curls on her daughter’s head. “We have plenty of mother and daughter time, and to be honest with you, I wouldn’t mind getting to talk to an adult for once.” Head tilting to the side, she brushed her curls behind her ears. “So? What do you say? A waffle?”

           Growing up around her mother and soon enough after that tragic night, her aunt, Katherine had to learn how to choose her words. Both were controlling enough, ( her aunt more than her mother ) despite not being one to get pushed, it was a skill she acquired from a young age. Everyone lies, yes. Some more than others. Yet some had some truth to it, making it more believable.  “See. I knew it. ” 

            “Well, I’m not staring because I want to kiss you.” Katherine shot back as she tittered. Watching his features change before her eyes, his fangs coming out, the skin surrounding his eyes. Any human would turn away screaming out monster. Be afraid. turn away. “Fascinating.” She spoke under her breath. The urge to touch how pointy they are was there. Being bitten hurt, yes. Though some weren’t as rough as others. Being a traveler, the majority didn’t take kindly to them. Their very existence defied the laws of nature. Of course there were the few that didn’t mind them.  “—You must think I’m a little strange.” She lightly chuckled as she slowly stopped herself from touching him any longer than she should have. Not that she would mind being called strange. She wasn’t one to give much thought about what others think of her. People are free to think what they want after all. Be it good or bad. 

Well, I’m not staring because I want to kiss you. He chuckled and nodded before letting his features change, and showing her the monster that he had willingly become 900 years ago. Sebastian hissed as he felt his fangs come out, it was still a feeling that he hadn’t really grown accustomed to, yet. He looked at her, almost expecting her to turn around and run as fast as she could away from him, but when she didn’t, and when she said fascinating, he looked at her, a little confused. You must think I’m a little strange. 

“Honestly, love? Yes.” Looking at her, he let his fangs retreat and his eyes turn back to normal. Shaking his head, he took a step back and stared at the ground. “It’s not like in the books, or movies, darling,” Sebastian spoke, before he lifted his head and stared at the girl in front of him. “We’re not like Edward Cullen, or something like that. We’re predators. We’re hunters. We’re... We’re monsters,” he spoke, feeling his chest tighten a little as he knew that was what his daughter would have thought of him. “We’re the monsters your parents warned you about when you were a little girl...”

               Even if he did kill her, Katherine wouldn’t be bothered by it. She had blood on her hands. She wont deny that. Didn’t mean that she was bad. But she knew she wasn’t good either. Yet there was never an in-between. “I only speak truths. I have no reason to lie.” That was the thing with her. Katherine was honest in a way. Choosing her words carefully. After all, the best liars always tell the truth. “Besides, I’m sure you heard that before and have girls fawning over you.” She lightly laughed. Eyes moved from his mouth to his eyes as she shook her head “–Nothing.” She smiled.  “Fangs. May I see them?” She tiled her head for a moment. Wondering what he will do or say to that. Yet she was curious. Be it vampire or werewolves or any other creature. Katherine would want to see what makes them them. “If you don’t mind of course.” Her curiosity made her seem harmless. Like her grandmother, Mercy, Katherine brought out an alluring innocence whenever she was curious. Despite being anything but. 

“ – You don’t have a reason to lie, that’s true,” Sebastian spoke, humming softly at what she said. Which was true, he knew that. But, for some reason, people seemed to lie all the time. It was a human thing, it seemed. Sebastian rose his eyebrows and laughed, shrugging his shoulders casually. Besides, I’m sure you heard that before and have girls fawning over you. “There have been a couple, not gonna lie,” he spoke smugly. 

Nothing. “Then why are you staring at my mouth, babe?” he challenged. Fangs. May I see them? “You want to see my fangs?” he questioned and looked at her with raised eyebrows.  A chuckle fell from his lips as he continued to look at her as the two of them stood close. If you don’t mind of course. The skin surrounding his eyes changed, and they turned red as he opened his mouth, his fangs coming out to play quickly. “Happy?” he questioned, the tone of his voice had changed a little. Never before had he met someone who was as curious as this one was. It actually intrigued him, truth be told.

“You and I both know that you’re a horrible optimist. Not a flattering look on you.” Valerie argued, rolling her eyes at his compliment, as stubborn as she always was. She wasn’t going to willingly admit that she genuinely liked Sebastian. She liked arguing with him, and she definitely liked staying with him. But she wasn’t willing to admit this to herself; neither was she willing to admit it to Sebastian. Looking around for her shoes, she still kept an eye out for Sebastian, yet, he was holding onto her wrist before she could even see him coming, making her stop in her step. “Let me go.” She insisted, giving a single warning to him. Yet, he seemed not to listen to her, and she couldn’t even struggle as Sebastian pulled her down back into the bed, causing Valerie to gasp. He was on top of her in a matter of moments, and, deep down, she found herself unable to complain. Having him so close was overwhelming, and she craved for more once again. “Maybe not. But I can very easily say no to it when it’s missing a tooth or two.” She threatened, her hands going up to his arms, yet she made no move to push him aside for good.Not that she could. 

“Not a flattering look on me? I’ve been told it’s quite an amazing trait to have,” he spoke and chuckled softly, keeping his eyes locked with hers. He grinned widely as she rolled her eyes at his compliment, about how she looked gorgeous still. “Come on alright, just take the compliment, will you?” he said and shook his head as he continued to keep his eyes on her. The two of them argued. It was their thing, but every once in a while, she needed to take the compliments that he gave her. Let me go. “Nope,” he spoke and grinned and it didn’t take too long until he had her pinned against the mattress. He used some of his super speed, but he made sure that it wasn’t obvious as he didn’t want or need Valerie to notice. Maybe not. But I can very easily say no to it when it’s missing a tooth or two. He chuckled at her threat, especially as he didn’t really take it all that serious. He continued to keep his hands on her though, making sure that she wouldn’t get back up. Leaning down, Sebastian pressed his lips to the side of her lips, grinning widely as both of his large hands moved her hands so that they were pinned against the mattress above her head. “You and I both know I’m not going to let you go that easily, sweetheart,” he said and winked playfully. 

“That’s what I do.” Valerie mumbled as she pulled the dress back up. It was damp, and felt terrible against her skin, making her frown. She couldn’t just walk around the town in her underwear, without ending up somewhere in the ditch, she knew that much. “You owe me for ruining my dress for good, you know.” She said in annoyance, trying to get used to the damp clothing that was starting to stick to her body. “So it’s a two night stand. Nothing more than that, get your head out of the gutter.”

Her frown only deepened as he patted the mattress next to him, and Valerie was almost tempted to walk over and slap him for that. She resisted the urge, however, well aware that if she were to get close to Sebastian, she would end up staying there once again. “No, I think that means I should find my shoes and leave.” Valerie spoke, walking around the room, trying to avoid the bed, as she looked for her heels. “Don’t be so naive and stop expecting anything else out of this.”

You owe me for ruining my dress for good, you know. “I think you look gorgeous,” he spoke, looking at her as she was pulling the damp dress up her body, sticking to her frame again. So it’s a two night stand. Nothing more than that, get your head out of the gutter. Sebastian rolled his blue eyes and laughed as he continued to lay on the mattress, his elbows pressing against it. “You and I both know this isn’t just going to be a two night stand,” he spoke and chuckled softly as his lips were spread into a big smile. No, I think that means I should find my shows and leave. He looked at her as she walked around the room, obviously trying to avoid the bed as she looked for her shoes. Don’t be so naive and stop expecting anything else out of this. “Naive? Really?” he pushed himself up into a sitting position. Reaching out, Sebastian wrapped his hand around her wrist, pulling her over to him before she could get away from him. “Oh, cooome on, sweetheart. Pretty please? Can you really say no to this handsome face?” He smirked as he tugged her down on the mattress, quickly rolling on top of Valerie, preventing her from getting anywhere. 

              “Im sure you can do many things though considering if I do ask for something what do you want in return? Poeple always ask what can they do for another but at a cost.” After all, most believe in an equivalent exchange unless you prefer to owe the other but that might come at a higher cost. It’s why Katherine always ask for future favors. She never knows when she might call one in without protest. “–It’s not like you killed her.” She lightly chuckled as she pointed out. “Plus I don’t scare easily.” The fear she had happened a long time ago. What’s the point in being afraid? “–Anything I haven’t told you?” She played. “Hmm,  there are many things I don’t tell people. Let alone strangers with a pretty face and charming smile, I just so happen to meet.” She teased before she examined him. Seeing if she could get a reaction, the brunette cupped her his face bringing it closer with curious eyes and focused on his mouth as if she were some sort of doctor or dentist wanting to see his fangs. Most fangs were different from one another. Recalling her father used to collect them once it was revealed that he still hunted. Some were sharper than others. 

People always ask what can they do for another but at a cost. Sebastian chuckled softly and nodded, tilting his head a little to the side. The old vampire licked his lips and looked at her, nodding his head at what the the petite female had said about how people always wanted something back if they did something for you first. It’s not like you killed her. Hmmm, that is very true. She is still very much alive,” he spoke and chuckled softly as he glanced over at the girl who he had been nibbling on. Plus I don’t scare easily. Sebastian grinned widely and nodded. “That seems to be true,” he said and tilted his head a little to the side, looking at the petite female in front of him. Let alone strangers with a pretty face and charming smile, I just so happen to meet. “You think I have a charming smile and pretty face? Gosh, you sure do know how to flatter a lad, don’t you?” he spoke and chuckled softly as he watched her cup his face, bringing it closer. He usually didn’t let people touch him like this, but he was, for some reason, slightly amused by what was happening. “What?” he questioned.

Valerie froze as the light went on in the room. It illuminated her path out, yet as Sebastian spoke, she made no move towards the door. Instead, she grabbed her dress, finally finding it on the floor. She kept her back to Sebastian, falling silent for a moment. She wanted to stay. She wanted to return to his arms, stay in his embrace overnight. It was all ridiculously stupid dreams, and those she knew she wasn’t supposed to truly have. She had it once, and she had messed it up, royally, and she wasn’t going to risk once more.

“Not again.” She corrected him, finally looking back over at the man. The dress remained in her arms for another few moments before she moved to put it back on.  “That it’s not how one night stands work, darling. We have sex, I leave. It’s the end of it.” Even if she really did not want this to be a one night stand- or a two night stand. 

Not again. “Well...” he spoke, dragging the word out teasingly as he stared at the dark-haired female as she had finally looked over at him. The smirk on the male’s lips widened and he couldn’t help but laugh as the dress remained in her arms for a few minutes, before she moved to put it back on. “Oh, come on. Don’t ruin it,” he said and chuckled softly as she said, that it’s not how one night stands work, darling. We have sex, I leave. It’s the end of it. “Well, sure, that is usually how one night stands work, but this isn’t just a one night stand, now is it? We have done this twice now, and well... It’s in the word, isn’t it?” 

The smirk on his lips widened as he sat up straight in bed, leaning forward and letting his forearms rest against the top of his knees. “So, that means, I think you should come back to bed,” he said and smirked as he tapped one of his hands against the mattress next to him. The night they had shared, had been once again, magical. 

              “Thank you,” she smiled at his compliment, eyes moving from Olivia’s figure up to his face. Mila had always been good at observing, and so she didn’t miss out on the way the smile on the man’s face faltered, turning into a frown instead. He looked sad, as if a weight was weighing down his shoulders, and as someone who always tried to make everyone around her happy, Mila couldn’t help but feel the need to turn that frown into a smile once more. “Would you like to join us for waffles?”, she asked, gesturing to the girl who was already chewing away at her waffle. “Well, join me. I wanted to get myself one as well before she decided to run off.”

             “Don’t know. What CAN you do for me, stranger?” She didn’t need anything from him as far as she knew and she was sure he had his fill with the girl he just compelled and happily walked away.    She did wonder what his response would be. Katherine motioned for him to come closer. Her curious way was one she develop from her grandmother. A trait her mother hated. Yet she was a girl who did as she pleases. 

Raising an eyebrow at the words coming from the petite female’s lips. He walked towards her, moving his hands to the lower part of his back. “I – I do believe that I asked you first, sweetheart,” he spoke, tilting his head a little to the side. “Aren’t you a little feisty thing? I have to admit, not a lot of people would be so calm after seeing what you just saw. Which makes me wonder... Is there anything you haven’t told me? Haven’t been honest about with me, love?” he questioned, focusing his eyes on her for a minute longer.

       “Not my fault I seem to blend into darkness well or the fact that a vampire, such as yourself, didn’t sense me being here.” She played about knowing fully well, she can manipulate all the shadows and what’s dark of the world. Came in handy whenever she wanted to go about undetected during the night. When she didnt want to be bothered and just lose herself in her thoughts. Katherine canted her head to the side as she carefully watched him. Wondering how old or young he was as a vampire. 

                   The brunette traveler just rolled her eyes at his sudden oops. “Right.” She shook her head at him. 

“Well, sweetheart, I was quite busy, to you know, notice someone lurking in the shadows,” he spoke and laughed, shaking his head at the words coming from the brunette’s lips while looking at her with raised eyebrows and a smirk on the male’s face. Right. He used his left thumb to push the blood away from his lips and into his mouth instead, sucking the blood off the end before looking up at her curiously. “And what can I do for you, love?” 

Powerful? All she could do was grow things. Az wasn’t powerful. She could feel her heart getting heavy. “Mm…” The hum was her only reply, she played with the fabric of his jacket, arms still linked.

Sebastian stopped in his tracks and turned to look at Azalea with a slightly amused expression on his lips. “What? You don’t think you could be powerful? Sweetheart, come on... You could be the most powerful witch there is. You could give the people who deserve it justice. You could be the Queen of East End, my darling!” 

The young traveler gasped for breath as he body was suddenly pressed against the tree. Whenever Arthur was around and used his speed, it felt as if the air was stolen from the room. With Sebastian and her body being moved it felt as if there was no oxygen left in her body. She saw spots and her eyelids felt impossible to keep open. Her body pressed closer to his as everything began to relax. 

It had been just as he described, something she was not too thrilled to admit openly. Quinn’s hands shook and her body ached as if she had just spent a night in his bed rather than a few moments clutched between his teeth. Her hands dropped from his hair to come and rest against his cold chest. The difference between the two was evident, like the way her chest rose and fell or the way her heart beat faster than it ever had before. And he seemed practically unchanged, something that almost made her frown. Quinn never hoped for much, knew better than to put her hope in anything, but she had listened to her parents and other whisper how special she was. How special everything about her was, and yet, she was just another person. 

“Not exactly”, she breathed, reaching up to cover the wound on her neck with her hands. “You’re going to need to wipe that smirk off your lips now”, she threatened, peering up at him finally.

And why should I do that? Hmm? I mean, you did sound like you enjoyed it? Or, am I just reading the whole mo–,” Sebastian said but stopped, the smirk that she had mentioned quickly disappeared from his lips as he stumbled backwards. He felt off. It was a feeling he had never felt before. “What... What did you do?” he mumbled and coughed as he looked at her with a worried expression on his lips. Had she put vervain in her system? Was that it? Or, had she found a way to get it into him without him noticing? 

Had she played him and his need for blood? Or, was this something completely different? He continued to cough, and not too long after, blood came pouring out of his mouth. He fell to his knees and he moved his hands to his chest. It felt like it was being ripped apart from the inside. “What the hell is going on with me?” he yelled, though kept it to a minimum as he didn’t need anyone coming over to see what the hell was going on between the two of them. “Did you give me something? Did you ––” 

The whole night was not something Valerie was planning on doing. Going out there wasn’t the plan. Getting into that damn beauty pageant was definitely not the plan. Meeting Sebastian, and spending the majority of the evening was definitely not the damned plan. And ending up in a bed with him was not something she could even thing of, irregardless how much she actually wanted it. 

Yet here she was, laying in his bed in the middle of the night, her clothes, still damp from taking a dip into that damned pond, on Sebastian’s bedroom’s floor. It was so oddly comfortable, being there, in his bed, in his arms, that it was freaking her out. She wasn’t supposed to be close to anyone. Not when she couldn’t understand what he was, and why she was so damn attracted to him. He was snarky, and handsome, and knew just how to keep teasing her, and she couldn’t even begin to describe everything else that made it all damn amazing. Yet, it wasn’t like her. She wasn’t one to fall for anyone.

She had to leave. She had to stop it all before it was too late. Carefully, Valerie untangled herself from sleeping Sebastian’s arms. She had to leave, and as quickly as she could. Getting out of the bed, she moved quietly, getting her underwear and bra back on, the darkness in the room making her escape all the more complicated.

Sebastian opened his eyes and watched as Valerie untangled herself from. He watched as she got out of bed and moved around the room quietly, although nothing got past him, with his super hearing and all. The smirk on his lips widened a little, as he could see her getting the underwear that he had so happily taken off her the night before. The night before had been what he would say a success. It had been the second night the two of them had spent together, and it seemed to him that it was something that just might happen again. And that was definitely something that Sebastian liked the idea off. Pushing himself up onto both his elbows, he reached over and touched the lamp, which resulted in it lighting up the room.

“You’re not sneaking out on me, are you, love? Again I might add?” he asked and grinned as he looked at her, tilting his head a little to the side. Around his neck, rested the necklace his daughter had given him for a birthday many years ago. “Come on, come back to bed...”

                   Katherine was leaning against the wall as she watched him feed. While her mother always tried to rid of her fascination of other species, Katherine had and will always have a natural (and deadly) appreciation for all the supernatural. Vampires including. They went against nature in every way.  Being on her own for the time being she didn’t think anyone would come here considering most, if not all, would be busy with the party and enjoying themselves. “You look like you were quite thirsty… . Still are?” She questioned out of pure curiosity once the girl wandered off. 

                   “—Hardly call it sneaking when I was here first.” Katherine mused about as emerald eyes looked the vampire before her over. “You just happen to take your little snack where I just happen to be. That’s all.” She smiled slightly. “but to answer your question; No. She didn’t… But she did tell me to be careful not to wear my dinner when I was younger.” Of course, this would apply to blood and not food. She motioned on the corner of his lips using her own as she lightly tapped on them. 

You look like you were quite thirsty.... Still are? “Well, aren’t you a bright one,” Sebastian spoke and chuckled as he pressed his thumb against the side of his lips, brushing it away before putting his thumb into his mouth. “Let’s just say, it’s been a while since I had a little snack,” he said and winked, while looking over at the girl who wandered off, touching the side of her neck for a split second before she skipped away happily. Hardly call it sneaking when I was here first. “You weren’t visible to the eye, which, sweetheart, makes you sneak up on me,” he said and smirked, his head tilted backwards ever so lightly. 

You just happen to take your little snack where I just happen to be. That’s all. But to answer your question; no. She didn’t... But she did tell me to be careful not to wear my dinner when I was younger. He looked at her and chuckled, as it didn’t take too long until he pulled his fingers back, which were still covered in blood. “Oops?” he said and laughed. 

“They just… Turned their back on me, I guess. Perhaps I was too loud!” She smiled meekly, desperately holding onto positive thinking. “I do ask a lot of questions.”

“I think they were scared of how powerful you can be,” he spoke, shrugging his shoulders lightly. I do ask a lot of questions. “I haven’t known you for long, but, that is true.”
