Card smiled, at least happy that Danny agreed. He liked it when people said he had a good point. Finishing off his last scoop of ice cream, he couldn't help but look up at the other through the fallen strands of blonde, a flirtatious smile across his lips and a slightly hopeful glint in his eyes. "Show him what he's missing? Is he gonna be there?"
Danny blinked for a second. "No it's... just a figure of speech, unless you're into people watching. I'm not judging, but I'm not into that." He smiled though. "Your choice."
who: @seasaltpages where: the gull hotel when: late february 2026
"Oh my god, hi. Was it Daniel? I think I saw a photo of you once in Angelo's Newcomers Newsletter, but I'm totally blanking." She's wearing a cocktail dress and her hair clearly has not seen a hairbrush since last night. "Okay, so this is not what it looks like. There was a girls night last night in the executive meeting room, and everyone went home, except for Amanda -- who literally hates my guts by the way -- and she told everyone I asked not to be woken up, and there is no way I'm spending a blizzard filming TikToks with her purposely filming my bad sides, so I borrowed the room log from the front desk, and you seem like you might be the least likely to murder me or think I'm propositioning you if I knocked on your door asking to hang out. So! Here I am! I'm Tabitha."
It all happened so fast, one minute he was sat on his window watching the snow fall with a cup of coffee and the next minute there was a slight frantic knock on his door. He pondered for a minute about answering it but got down and pulled the door open to a woman, raising an eyebrow when she named him. "Danny, I- "was all he could say as she continued to talk. "Um... come in? I have a comb?" He stood back and gestured for her to come inside. "It's clean and new." Danny added.

Hayden sipped his cup of coffee as he watched the snow fall over main street from his apartment on top of the vets office, once in a while he'd see someone fighting the elements down there and shake his head a little, that was until he saw a familiar head of blonde which made him sigh. "No." He refused then groaned. "Fine." Hayden put his cup down, pulled his coat on and made his way outside.
"Card? What the fuck are you doing out here?"
"Gods, you could at least let me take my shoes off before you start talking to me like that," Mirana teases, brushing past him to find the dog. Bothering Hayden is momentarily side-tracked by what is unfortunately one of the cutest dogs she's ever seen. She'd really been hoping there weren't actually any animals, just so she could complain, or maybe only something obscure like a flying squirrel. Now she has to play it cool. Great. "Hey there," she tells the groggy animal that appears to be wearing a cast of some kind on his hind leg. She crouches and holds one timid hand out, fingers reaching through the kennel door. "Do you care if I pet you? Or you're a biter and this is a trap..."
Hayden watched her with a dog for a second and shook his head. "No Miss Mirana, I'm very ill and I'm recovering from an operation on my broken leg." He even did a higher pitch of voice. "Nearly done." He finished up cleaning.

WHO: Matty & Hayden ( @seasaltpages )
WHERE: Bob's Bar & Burgers
"This is kind of bullshit by the way. I'm pretty sure I could report you to someone," Matty announced, sat at the bar with his brother. "Literally report you. Like, come on, man. I don't need your help with pulling women. Like dating tactics from the Stone Age are gonna get me laid. Like, you can't just grunt and show everyone that your club is bigger anymore."
"Who would you report me to? Child protection services? You're a grown ass adult who goes about flirting wrong." Hayden shook his head some at his brother. "Oh yeah, yeah, me Hayden me got a bigger club than you."
He perked up at that. "Oh, yeah, I've heard him play a couple times! Not normally my kind of music either, but I really liked it. Makes you want to get out and dance. If he's not your usual type what is?"
"Exactly. That's the sign of a really good DJ." Dámaso nodded then grinned a bit, unable to help himself as he leaned in a little and said "You."
@ofheroism
Scott knocked on her door rather insistently, it was freezing tonight and it was about midnight (he hadn't looked at his watch) but he really needed to see her. "Jules?" He sounded a little bit tipsy as he leaned some against the door and knocked again, grinning when he saw the hall light come on. "Hey gorgeous. Listen, can I ask you a question? I need to prove this guy in the bar is wrong."
who: @seasaltpages where: beach bum thrift store when: january 12
Most people in town would assume there's very little that could entice Juliette Dawson to a thrift store. In terms of clothing, that's a rather accurate assumption. She can't fathom even the idea of trying on something when she has no idea what manner of filth isn't washed off it. She's also moderately sensitive to laundry detergent, but that's an embarrassing weakness she doesn't share. Now, the non-clothing? Juliette can waste an entire afternoon looking through the aisles of various trinkets people decided weren't worth keeping around but were better than trash (and yes, half of the entertainment is judging). "I wonder for what purpose someone would have originally purchased a Leprechaun Santa apron," Juliette muses aloud, not entirely minding if the woman beside her hears.
Simone caught what Juliette said and looked at the apron. "Probably some husband who didn't know what to get his wife for Christmas, saw this and thought 'oh yeah, she's gonna love it'."
Edgar nodded, taking a sip of his own wine. "So how long do you plan on staying here? In Windmere, I mean."
"I'm not sure yet, I've been travelling around the country for a couple of months now looking for new talent to bring under my label. I hear there's a guy in this town who does some impressive DJ sets. Not my usual type of music, but I'm willing to give it a listen."

Nathan shook his head. "There are different ways to meditate. You don't necessarily have to sit still. I prefer yoga myself, but there are plenty of active meditation techniques you can try."
At Danny's question his lips thinned into a line. "If Mason Hale simply drowned to death, why was his body found on his family's yacht the next day by a dock worker?"
"So... what are your theories?" Danny asked now, sipping his drink and put his focus on this conversation.
"100%." Cardelle leaned in closer. "So, basically, we were paired together on a blind date, and he had to leave early, then I saw him out on the Boardwalk and asked him again and he said yes, which lead to today. He wouldn't agree if he didn't swing...right?
"Hm, good point." Danny sat back a little in his chair to finish off his ice cream, watching Card for a second before he could stop himself, he asked. "How about we go back to my hotel room and show him what he's missing?"
"Wow. This is really something fascinating to learn about you." She laughed as she spoke, her eyes still a little wide with surprise as she looked at him. "There's something quite nice about a new phone though. It feels kind of fresh, right?"
"I didn't think of it like that, but yes, I suppose so." He nodded a little, having a small think about it. "At least it can't stress me out any further." Danny had been getting quite a lot of phone calls from his family and fiancé, quite rightly too.
The receptionist glances between the two of them in what might be uncomfortable silence, says some remark that might be about clocking out if he's sure; Mirana's attention is unfortunately elsewhere. She rolls her eyes at Hayden as if to say 'stop eye fucking me in your lobby', but even her valiant attempt to bite back her laughter fails as she follows after him. Why is it so amusing that neither of them has technically even said a word to each other? Arms crossed and leaning a safe distance away on the exam room's door, Mirana smirks. "I'm leaving a bad review on Google if I don't meet at least one animal, Smith."
"Go right ahead." He gestured to a dog who was being kept in overnight in a kennel. "He's recovering from an op but you're free to reach in and give him a stroke." Hayden said all that without looking up, just busied himself with finishing the cleaning.

"Danny!" Sophia gasped, looking at the man with a mixture of surprise and very evident amusement. "That's a little bit unhinged, but you know what? I support you and your impulsive boundaries. Are you just going to be one of those folks that doesn't own a mobile phone now? Letters or landline only? How retro."
"What can I say? I'm as impulsive as they come." If only she knew the reality. "Maybe... but in the end I'm going to have to get a new phone."
who: @seasaltpages where: windmere vet clinic when: january 5
The thing about Hayden Smith? Mirana never really intends to be around him. They just happen to run in vaguely overlapping circles. Most people probably aren't even aware they've spoken. She actually ought to avoid that, since the last time she spent an hour with this man in October, Matty was mustache-less and Mirana was shedding her devil Halloween costume above a vet clinic. Really, she should be bored after the first time, but it's rare someone can keep Mirana on her toes when it comes to banter. It was actually an amusing enough time that she hadn't texted him in almost three months or even told Seren. Now, here she is, at the same vet clinic, dressed in a simple turtleneck and jeans, as if she hasn't an ounce of belief that this family recipe will impress her enough to stay a little longer. What she doesn't account for, despite teasing him, is that the clinic is still open. A receptionist frowns up at her from the front counter. "Ma'am, I'm sorry, we're closing. Is this an emergency?"
As Mirana spots Hayden, her lips curl into a smirk as she stares him down instead of the receptionist. "I'm afraid it is. Someone promised to help me put up two dozen Sarah McLachlan animal shelter posters tonight, and I simply couldn't do it alone."
Hayden was finishing clearing up for the day as he awaited Mira's appearance. "It's okay, you can go home." He said with a smile but his eyes were on Mira rather than the receptionist. "I'll lock up after I'm done wiping down the surfaces and of course, helping Mirana here with her posters." Then he took a step back into the room to finish his cleaning.
