            forcing the other to sit so he can get a better look at the injury  .  “  i don’t think so  ,  but try me …  ”  the doctor replies  ,  shifting into a crouch to come eye to eye with the bleeding wound  .  “  i swear i just patched this side up a week ago  ,  ”  he huffs  ,  despite his displeasure  ,  maverick’s actions are gentle and cautious as he feels the surrounding area  .  “  is there really no way you could have done what you did without a need to gain another hole in your body  ??  ”  maverick sighs  ,  wiping his hands clean before he reaches for the sewing kit  .

there is little objection when he is forced to sit, instead offering a playful hum at the reply with a chuckle and a grin;  ❛  you did.  ❜  he muses with languid tone, voice all but a playful boredness he tries to quell before he exhales a soft hiss at the touch; even if the ships doctor is gentle,  it still hurts & despite his best attempts, at times he’d be caught off guard, unable to suppress his pained reactions.       too bad this was one of them - he knows he won’t hear the end of it.  & he’d beeing SO GOOD up to now, he thinks.     ❛  someone tried to mug some kid, i barely managed to jump inbetween, so, uh. i don’t think so, no.  ❜   it’s only partially the truth; if he’s honest he did kind of provoke the mugger beforehand. but he did tell the truth in the fact he was doing it to help someone else, crooked smile finding it’s way back onto his face before he tilts his head at maverick,   ❛ how many stitches ‘s it gon’ be?  ❜ 

“Okay, point taken. It really would just be a waste, huh.”

there’s a hesitant laugh leaving barely parted lips, hand clutching bloodied  side whilst crooked grin is offered in meager effort to convey easiness;   or  at the very least some form of cheeriness just to mask the pain he’s in. the playful tone he speaks with  will definitely not make the other more lenient with him but it’s not like he’s not used to that. he did manage to get into his fair share of problems, after all.  ❛   will you be less angry with me if i tell you the reason WHY i got hurt in the first place?                ...maybe?   ❜

the whole crew started when vincent began travelling to find a crew for his ship; originally it was meant to only help a handful of people. those kind of lost souls who had nothing left in this life; those who never got the chance they deserved. those who he’d gladly give all his chances to.

it kind of developed into a lot more; the more people they picked up, the more money he stole from the corrupt the more he wanted a safe haven for the kids, the elder & the sick they helped. so eventually they bought an island, built a secret little paradise for those who needed a new life.

and now the crew on the ship is kind of just those who are willing to risk their lives to help others; who want to do good to either make up for things in their past they were forced to do due to circumstances or to simply give help like they were once given.

the entire crew is like a tight-knit family. you have people from all over the world who were picked up for several reasons; some have been abused, some had been homeless, some had been orphans forced into bad lifestyles. all of that and more. some of them join vincent in his heists but many of them just work on the ship and/or ensure there’s getaway vehicles for those who partake in heists.

a lot of them also have online personalities considering that despite their “popularity” and being wanted in mutliple places they always manage to evade law enforcement in every country. a handful of them even stream --- there’s some who take “shifts” to ensure a 24 hour stream. it’s kind of funny because everyone in the crew is kinda pulled into it and ends up goofing around during those.

there’s also a lot of trauma, however. not only do most of them have rough backgrounds but they also help people in unfortunate circumstances, that means witnessing a lot of horrible shit they can’t always help or make better. it’s one of the reasons vincent tries to do as many jobs as possible on his own.

there’s also a bunch of roles because after being labelled “pirates” they kinda just adopted that entire shtick. they also have a galleon ( the ship “the lioness” ) with a bunch of rooms; in one they grow crops and vegetables so they have fresh food during their travels and a smaller section below deck is reserved and modified to keep chickens (there’s an aggressive one everyone calls “big bertha” and like 99% of the crew is terrified of her. it’s a running gag that she actually runs the whole ship)
