β πͺ½ open role play . . .
If Tamsin was tired, she would never let anyone know. Not until she was crumpled, too weary to lift her heavy head, green eyes blurred from the expenditure of energy she always overdid and the lack of sleep that she allowed herself. Atlas himself would lament the weight on Tamsin's shoulders, and yet she bore it with a smile that never faltered, beaming and bright against the darkness the world so often wrought upon them.
Often, she found herself working until a very overprotective Blonde Blazer, Mandy to Tamsin, sent her home with a stern yet worried look and a short hug. There would never be a day where Tamsin was not grateful for all Mandy did for her, even if she loathed to leave her place of work.
There were other very capable, very skilled, and very powerful medics at SDN. This Tamsin knew. They could keep the world turning without her there, could keep people alive and safe and well. That did not stop her from feeling the visceral, all consuming need to be useful, to be present.Β
It was her job. It was her duty. It was what she was made for.
βThere ya go!β Tamsin grinned, helping her latest and now fully recovered patient off of the medical cot. βCome back if ya need me, mkay? Or if you donβt and just wanna chat! Whatever works!β
When the hero was gone and the infirmary was empty, she bounced back into her office, the door just slightly left ajar in case anyone wanted to stop by. A soft sigh escaped her as she melted sidewise into her less than comfortable office chair, wings fluttering behind her.Β Legs curled against her side as she made her home on the seat.
Technically, her shift had ended maybe a day or two ago? She had stayed for the night shift the next day, the day shift, stopping only for coffee and short breaks in between. Through her life, and even in childhood, she had used far more energy in far shorter periods of time and been expected to keep going. If she was meant to be a wellspring, a fountain of youth, she would embrace the role with gratitude.
For a moment, she rested her head on her arms, taking deep breaths to center herself. One in, one out, one in, one out. Someone in the office was suffering β a migraine. Someone else nearby had stubbed their toe. She had few doubts that whoever was in the bathroom was not having a good time with their stomach right now.Β
βCoffee,β she decided out loud, standing up again and running her fingers through her hair. βOr tea. Hmm. Both yummy, caffeinated decisions,β she made her way to the break room, greeting everyone she passed with a warm smile and a personal hello. She knew all of their names, cared about them all as deeply as she would someone she had known for a lifetime.
