i realize this is a hack live at the apollo type observation but its really striking how "good customer service" in the us does not mean "providing customers with a good service", but instead "providing customers with a terrible service but forcing the people providing it to act slavishly obsequious at all times"
Yeah, I used to do call center tech support at a major US cable company, and part of why I quit was because of how much corporate cared more about that slavish obsequiousness over the actual quality of the service. Because in a lot of cases, actually providing a good service costs the company more than proverbial service with a smile (or at the very least, the costs of the former are more immediately obvious).
And a big part of it was how metrics-driven it was, and how much we were incentivized to minmax our metrics (keep handle time, repair technician appointments scheduled, transfer rate and repeat callers low, and sentiment measurement score high).
On paper, we were supposed to prioritize fixing issues by troubleshooting over the phone as much as possible, and only sending out a technician when absolutely necessary. In practice, we were basically incentivized to tell people that their service issues weren't actually issues and hope they just suck it up and don't call back.
This wasn't helped by the fact that corporate also cared more about a standardized experience than anything else. We were expected to adhere to strict troubleshooting procedures and ignore any outside technical knowledge we had, even if we knew the standardized procedures were wrong or didn't make any sense. Which was most of the time.
And as the cherry on top of this shit sunday, so many people here in the US are entitled as hell and get mad when customer service workers aren't slavishly obsequious towards them.
Someone has been slowly over the last few months making an avant garde art installation out of an abandoned Boston Market/Checkers. Their signboard messages keep getting torn down so their latest move was to make a flag of a photo of their previous masterpiece "PENIS WIGS FOR SAL" and run it up the flag pole

Also worth noting that "six foot twenty" and "ten feet twenty" are kinda nonsense lines even in American customary units, since there are twelve inches in a foot. It's like saying 2 meters 156 cm.

I think comps like all Soldier 76 or the one fucked up Hanamura offense team comp of Lucio, Winston or Reinhardt, D.Va, D.Va, D.Va, and D.Va are funny as hell and I wonder what sort of fucked-up kusoge (affectionate) OW would've been if Blizzard had embraced that instead of saying "okay you can't run more than one of the same character on your team"
though I also think team-based competitive games should only let you play ranked if you have a full stack so... my opinions on team-based competitive games are certainly unorthodox.

It's cool that they brought it back as a casual side mode, but the vibe is different when it's not just a casual side mode, but the default rules for competitive play.
Like, the four D.Va comp I mentioned was kinda just a meme comp from some shitposter on I think Something Awful, but the six Soldier 76 comp? That was an actual team comp that was used in a pre-OWL esports event. And the team using it won.
