I’m tired. I tried something new and stumbled upon some speed-bumps today, which was cumbersome to deal with since I couldn’t pause and fox them at that moment, due to clients on a schedule. I fixed it later, but I keep working free over time, because there isn’t enough time to do everything. I’m behind schedule. I’m homesick, but home is really far away and we don’t have the time/money to go right now. Why don’t we have the money? Well, thank the god of finance that where I work does do an ‘inflation increase’ each year, BUT, in 15 years, only one or two of those years did the increase in pay cover the increase in rent/insurance premium inflation. The rest of the time, the pay increase fell short. It’s a government job, so the public has a say in our salary. If they vote that they dislike paying extra taxes for my job, then my pay will DECREASE $7,000 next year! Plus, the insurance is shit. High premiums; minimal coverage. Some may say, “such is life in the U.S.A.”, and I don’t deny it is a shit system, but I also know that comparable jobs have MUCH better insurance for lower prices. This year alone, we’ve had to pay $13,700 out of pocket for services, because certain services aren’t covered and don’t count towards the exceedingly high deductible. I’ve been with the company for 15 years. It requires a Bachelors degree. I make $2,300 more than newly hired employees. That’s it. 15 years a service has equated to an approximate raise increase of 10c per hour. And as I’ve said, the pay increases, at most, have just barely covered increases in rent and insurance. Everything else has increased too. So effectively, I make less now than when I was hired. Rent on 1 bedrooms in this area has jumped from $800 to $1,600 in just 11 years. Pay did not increase 50%. They owe us more. I like my job. I hate the pay. We shouldn’t have to be worried about basic survival if we dare to add the expense of a child. I fear loud, idiots and zealots will make our world worse. Despite the complaint list. I do have helpful people in my life, those I love, and enough free time to vent about all this. I hope it helps to put it out into the void
