Someone in the tag mentioned that there is a poster of Sam on the wall (with the Nate one) with the title "youth manager", I havent seen the ep myself to verify but they said its outside the youth team locker room

The posters seem to be advertisements for Richmond's Academy (which is kind of funny since none of the players on them attended Richmond's Academy program, afaik? lmao. But I guess it's just supposed to be a fun nod to seasons past.)

Jamie has one too! It's the s1 one promo pic where he's pointing at his name on his shirt, and there's a glimpse of it the second time we see that hallway on the righthand side (I can't find the timestamp for it atm but my Jamie Tartt sensor pinged right away on first watch lmao).

I don't know how to successfully screenshot the episode (i just get a black screen) but I am SQUINTING at Sam's poster and I don't see the Youth Manager thing? His tagline is "Win or lose, do it with dignity." All the banners say "ACADEMY" In the top right. That's all I think it says. The time stamp for this part is 12:06 if anyone else wants to take a look and try to figure out if I'm missing anything.

I want so much to love this season, to love the female team and new cast members, but I just know that the plots and writing they're giving the returning cast are gonna piss me off so much

Thinking about how every review I read was in agreement about episode 2 being the clear standout of the episodes they received (which was half the damn season lmao). This was the unequivocal high point! 🙂

(To be clear I did really enjoy the episode and I thought it was FAR far superior to episode one. But some of the choices already sure have me bracing myself…)

So anyway my prediction is that Alice and Gemma are exes and Alice had a career ending injury early on that forced her to pivot to coaching, but she still attempted to live out her original football dreams by proxy of Gemma. Then she got bitter and mad when Gemma willingly chose to leave the sport, because it was like being forced to leave her own dream behind again. They cut each other off after that entirely and haven’t spoken in several years.

Gemma’s position as striker will be a last missing piece when the coaches are trying to flesh out the team in an episode or two, and Alice will have to put herself out there to reach out to Gemma and convince her to return and play. 😌
