Acorns.
I think they're super cute, and not only do they make the most adorable earrings you've ever seen, but they're incredibly powerful in the witchy department.
Acorns have a plethora of uses, but for me personally, one particular effect of them draws to me: their ability to reflect and amplify power. If I have an acorn laying about, there are several things that I like to do to increase the effectiveness of my spellwork.
I'll list a few of my favorites here:
If I grind my own herbs with a mortar and pestle, I'll grind an acorn into it before pouring the powder out and grinding my other spices and herbs. It amplifies the influence of the herbs and also the influence of whatever I may be adding it into.
That powdered acorn can be dusted into wax that seals spells jars, and seems to be especially effecting with protection and safety jars.
Shattered bits of shell can be burnt along with cleansing incense to amplify the cleansing of your space.
Carrying acorns in your bag or on your person can increase the intensity of your presence
Throw them at assholes to chase them off

Cleansing & Charging Jewelry
Cleansing Jewelry
Why is it important?
Cleansing your jewelry is important because it has a lot of energy around it. That necklace you just bought? It has come into contact during the designing, making, shipping and handling processes. It has also been picked up by people who were admiring it or considering purchasing it. All in all, it has a lot of energy: some negative, some natural, some positive.
How do I cleanse it?
The following are a few ways to cleanse your jewelry and pictures paired with it, as well as videos that further explain.
Set it in salt to ground it. You can do this as short as a couple of hours or as long as overnight or longer. You can do this a few times a year, a month, a week, or every night. Remember to replace the salt every so often.
Pass it through smoke. You can use incense and pass the jewelery through it. You may wish to use a scent that corresponds with your intention. Alternatively, you can use smoke from a bundle of herbs (avoiding white sage as it is cultural appropriation of indigenous people). You can get fancy and use corresponding herbs.
Let it flow in running water. Please hold on tightly so as not to lose it and pollute the water. Also if your jewelry has a crystal or stone, please make sure it is safe to put in water.
Visualization. Picture a glowing white light around it. And then picture the energies melting off and being replaced by a clean slate or whatever energy you wish it to hold.
Use a cleansing spray. You can make one yourself or buy one from a local metaphysical shop.
Charging Jewlery
Charge with intention. For more information on this, reference Mintfaery's video below:
Use a sigil. I have a post on creating one here. Place the jewelery on top of the material you created the jewlery on. Pro tip: for a grounding sigil, write it on a leaf to call upon the earth element.
Place under the moonlight or sunlight (don't put it directly under the sun, it can pale your jewlery).
Place it by a candle. Utilize the different color correspondences. Dress the candle in essential oils and herbs if you so wish.
Place it in a bowl of herbs with certain correspondences. This will infuse the jewlery with that intention. For example, use lavender for tranquility or rose for love.
Use running water, moon water, ocean water, etc. Different types of water have different correspondences of which you can find some here. Or if you wish to make your own correspondences watch this video here.
Charge with smoke. Place a few herbs in a bowl with a charcoal disc. Light some incense. Light a bundle of herbs. Use correspondences. This will infuse the jewelery with the air element which aids in communication, thought, and dreams.
Put it on your altar. If it has a specific purpose, such as intention or dedication to an entity, it will be infused with that purpose.
Perform a ritual. An example of one (along with the video I referenced) is down below.
Charging Ritual
Plan ahead. If you so wish, plan what day, mook phase, holiday, etc that you want to use as a correspondence. And prepare for the rest of your ritual by gathering supplies you plan to use.
Use a casting cirlce if that's part of your practice.
Call upon any entity/entities you wish to aid you in your ritual, such as a spirit or deity.
State or write down your intention using positive, present tense words. Instead of saying I will be protected, say I am protected. Instead of saying I will not be harmed, say I am safe.
Visualize the above intention as it should happen. Imagine it flowing down your arms and to your hands and into the jewelery that your hands are holding or rested above.
Seal the energy. Kiss it, say a phrase like so mote it be or amen, etc.
Recharge it as often as you feel it needs to be. You can do this in a variety of ways. You could do something as elaborate as repeating the above or as simple as playing with the jewelery.
I just ordered my honeycomb cake mold off of Amazon. Super excited to try my first Litha recipe! What are you guys doing to celebrate the summer solstice?? 🌼🌾🍯🐝🌞

Easy Witchy Things to do
-Spelled bath salts in your night bath to lift mental and physical exhaustion of the day. I recommend a recipe with frankincense, geranium and rosemary in it as they aid in purification of body, spirit and soul but you can customize for your needs. You can do SOOOOO many things in the bath. Imma do another post on this.
-Rose hip tea before bed to bring prophetic dreams.
-Rosemary/athame placed beneath the pillow to protect from nightmares and psychic attacks.
-Incense of lavender. Or a candle dressed in lavender oil. Or lavender fragrance oil on your pulse points. Whatever is more feasible to you. Lavender, promotes peaceful sleep.
-Keep a dream journal. Meditate for a few as soon as you wake up and record everything you recall in the journal for reflection.
-Do a card pull for the day ahead. Tarot or oracle. Your choice.
-Brew tea in the morning. I like green tea. Its simple. Its available. Most importantly, its cheap.
-The house you live in is an entity too. Clean it up a little. It can be something as simple as vacuuming, floorwash, dusting windows, changing curtains, letting in some sun, hanging wind chimes, vastu or feng shui, sprinkling infused water, smudging…..you get it.
-Water your plants. Talk to them. Sing to them. See if anyone is sick and needs attention. Plants like that. Bond with your plants and they will aid you more.
-I like to shower in the morning (I’m Indian and terrified of my mother. Also. Hygiene.) Visualize the water infusing you with its flow and clarity to help you flow and be clearheaded throughout the day.
-Eat breakfast with intention. You are what you eat. Do not put trash in your tummy. It messes with your frequency. I like to stick to apples and milk/coffee.
-Wear clothes with intention too. Colors are a massive force in our lives and aid in our purpose. Wear red for passion, confidence, sensuality and resoluteness. I like to wear at least one red item everyday.
-Nail polish, if that’s something you’re into. You can incorporate color magic by doing this too if you do not wish to wear colored attire or if its not your style.
-Put a fragrance oil/itr (pronounce:EEH-tr) on you with. I like to put jasmine on me. It corresponds with divination, sensuality, confidence and luxury.
-Jewellery. Period. Rings, pendants, earrings, bracelets, anklets…intention people. Intention is your best friend. For my broom-closeted witches, this is an excellent way to mask your crystals in plain sight. Crystals are pretty and jewellery goes unsuspected. Amethyst ring? Lapis studs? Pearl bracelet? Obsidian pendant? Crystal magic!!!
-Enchant your makeup if you use any.
-Put pre-energized yantras/glyphs on the inside of your laptop bag/school bag/work bag to promote clarity and fluidity in work.
-Enchant your pens/brushes/pencils/tools of trade for productivity and efficiency.
-Carry snacks with you. Dried drupes, berries and fruits are fulfilling and keep you in touch with earth. Also, cuz they’re snacks.
-Eat your food.
-When you get back home, shed you’re clothing and visualize all the weight of the day going with it.
-I like to have a post-work day shower too. Again, visualize the water carrying away your woes with it.
-Brew your post-work tea. Chai is a very good option. I brew it in milk and add a host of powders/roots to it. Nutmeg, cinnamon, mace, grated ginger and cardamom are my favorites in any season. They promote positivity, good energy, relaxation, healing and peace.
-Listen to your favorite music.
-Do something artistic. Maybe paint, sculpt, write, sing out loud, freestyle….whatever you like.
-Read and research. I like to update by grimoire everyday. I, like many other witches, believe that my grimoire is a living entity and needs attention in order to flourish. You don’t have to do a lot. Just research for a couple minutes and write down your notes in it. It don’t have to be fancy.
-Bathe
-Tea! Again!
-Incense
-Sleep my little birdie.

When you keep reshuffling the deck, hoping for a better outcome and the deck keeps spitting THAT card at you anyway...
I wish more people understood that tarot only reads your current energy and life path you're on. It's used as advice, primarily. We make all kinds of decisions and choices on the daily that alters our path without realizing sometimes. All that can lead to a potentially different outcome. You create your own future. No cartomancer can tell you what choices to make to go from A to B and we're not going to make decisions for you. I strongly advise everyone not to rely on tarot or other tools to make important life choices. There's a reason a disclaimer is given that it's "all for entertainment purposes". As a tarot reader, we don't take responsibility for your choices. You choose what to do at the end of the day. I've seen so many bizarre questions asked of tarot from "how to get into university" to "how to act at a job interview". At the end of the day these aren't appropriate questions to ask, these are things you should know to get by in life.
Smudging vs Smoke Cleansing
One of the most common mistakes that I see people make is interchanging these two terms, or using one instead of the other. They are in fact two separate things, and one is part of a closed practice so it is important to know the difference.
Smudging
Smudging is part of Native American traditions, making it part of a closed practice. In fact, due to parts of it being ceremonial, it is impossible for outsiders to smudge as they literally do not know how. Non-natives are not taught the ceremonial parts of smudging, so unless you were taught how, you genuinely cannot be smudging. While different tribes sometimes do it differently, every example I’ve seen does involve burning various plants, which is why it is often confused with smoke cleansing.
Smoke Cleansing
Smoke cleansing is the act of using smoke to influence a space’s energy. This often involves burning plants with cleansing, protective, or other properties to bring those properties to the space itself. Some examples I’ve seen used are sage, rosemary, or even lavender depending on the intended purpose. This is what the majority of witches are doing when they burn herbs around a space. However, it is still important to make sure the plants you are burning will not harm you if inhaled, and that if you are using plants traditionally used by native peoples that they are sourced ethically (here is a post that explains why it matters). If you cannot source your plants ethically, then kitchen varieties of most plants can be used instead.
Knowing the difference between these is really important, as they are different practices. I wanted to make this post because I see the terms used interchangeably or incorrectly literally every time I come on this site, so I hope it helped!
