So I've received a handful of comments on Tumblr and other sites, on my fanart of Jojo characters wearing outfits from the Grammy Awards, specifically Lil Nas X, Billie Eilish, and Billy Porter...

...and have told me I was white-washing two of these celebrities.

Now I can admit I made the mistake of not making it super obvious that it is a CROSSOVER, but I just can't understand how people gloss over the tags that CLEARLY have the names of the characters on the art and immediately assume I'm white-washing.

First of all, if I was known to change races of characters in fanart, I wouldn't post it in a site like Tumblr where everyone knows a majority of the users are easily sensitive about these topics (like those of you who commented), and where it is especially easier to find by lots of users.

And secondly, it's so hard to fathom that people who immediately jump in and comment their assumptions (almost always in a rude manner) without even TRYING to find the context of the post or whoever the character is and just say they were altered negatively exist.

I know not everyone has the time to check the tags and I probably look overdramatic for ranting about a daily occurrence among fanworks, but for the love of all that is mighty PLEASE check anything else about a post before you start something. Like do the other comments say this is bad or do they approve of it? It's not that hard, also you'll look less of an ignorant keyboard warrior.

Plus, to any artist who doesn't use tags and tries making something similar to what i did that involves different races or genders, I highly suggest tagging their names or even putting up the original pictures (or just straight up say it's a crossover in the captions.)
