Just what kind of place is this? Surely wherever he’s found himself, it’s nothing he’s ever heard of in Remnant, so maybe it’s some kind of different world? Different universe? Whatever the case, it doesn’t really matter all that much, for as far as he’s able to tell, he, along with everyone else living here is pretty much stuck. At least for now. While he’s here, he may as well try and get well acquainted with the city since it doesn’t appear there’s much else to do.
As of now, he’s already been to the popular cafe on his first day, but since then, he’s mostly just hung out in his room, doing a lot of thinking. Back in Remnant, he and his friends had been on a mission to more or less save the world, and now that he’s no longer there, with the possibility of his friends not being there as well, who would carry on? Is time still moving in his home world? It’s impossible as far as he knows to come to a solid conclusion, and really, thinking about all of this seems rather useless if there’s no way out.
Deciding to get some fresh air, Jaune quickly finds himself in a nice little park that seems quiet enough, a good enough place to just relax and enjoy the outdoors for a bit. However, before he’s able to find himself a park bench to sit on for a while, he immediately sees an all too familiar sight. …Weiss? So she’s here too…? It really makes him wonder just who else he knows is lurking here somewhere.
Seeing she’s in distress, he immediately runs over to her and stops dead in his tracks for a moment as he takes a second to see what kind of trouble she’s in. Apparently, she’s somehow got herself caught in the gate, with a very noticeable coffee stain on her jacket. How bizarre it feels to see someone as proper as Weiss be in such a pickle, so to speak.
Jaune stifles a laugh before raising his brows in surprise. “Weiss…? I gotta say, you being clumsy like this? Never thought I’d see the day. But anyway, let me help you.” he replies, a small smile on his face as he opens the gate to free her jacket before shutting the gate again. “There. Unfortunately, I don’t think there’s much we can do about your jacket, but… You didn’t get burned, did you?” he pauses for a moment, placing his hand on her shoulder. “It’s good to see you, though. Didn’t think I’d meet anyone else I know.”
there was a point in time where the mere idea of jaune arc ─ jaune, of all people! ─ helping her out would have infuriated her. it would have annoyed her to the core to the point of refusing his aid, no matter the situation. but now? even regardless of the fact that he’s just freed her from the clutches of the evil gate ( she mentally notes to potentially bring up it’s dangers to the park’s management ) , she’s just happy to see him. it’s been a shock to suddenly come to the unknown city, so to see a familiar face and to know that he’s safe and alright, is relief in itself. she might not ever admit that out loud, though!
( and it’s not the first time he’s helped her unexpectedly either. the scar on her abdomen aches a little from the memory. did she ever properly thank him for that . . ? )
❝ ... my hero. ❞ she remarks and there’s a bit of sarcasm, but it’s no different than the sarcasm she’d use in response to ruby or yang, and, occasionally, blake. it’s lighthearted and playful, both to underhandedly express gratitude and cover up her . . . embarrassing predicament. she shakes her head at his concern, though sighs softly as she removes her jacket and folds it over her arm.
❝ it might be salvageable, but at this point, probably not worth the trouble. but no, i wasn’t burned. ❞ she finally offers a small, subtle smile, swirling her cup of coffee in her hands to judge just how much was spared from the spill. unfortunately, it’s about as sad of a situation as her jacket. oddly enough, she doesn’t find herself caring too much. she surprises herself, but the joy she feels from finding her friend outweighs the tragedy of the jacket and coffee.
❝ i’m glad to see you too, jaune. ❞ she finally admits, ❝ i was beginning to wonder if this city was just a glorified hostage situation. ❞ she brushes down her shirt, brows pinching together, ❝ well, perhaps it still could be, but at least we’ve been stuck with people we know? ❞ she muses, more as a thought to herself than anything. she allows a few moments to pass before looking up to jaune, shocked that this day would ever come. really, maybe this whole thing is still one big dream.
❝ well . . . seeing as i now need a new coffee, you’re free to join. i mean, we can try to figure out what’s going on here. ❞ she offers in a quiet voice ─ oh, how she would have never seen herself doing this when she had first met him! ❝ oh, and jaune? if you tell ANYONE what happened here today, i’ll make sure the chances of this happening again are none. ❞ she turns, but the words and said with a smirk. the morning is sure full of surprises!
