scarlet sisters ► flandre and remilia
As she expected, Flandre was just as clueless as she was. She couldn’t blame her, though. She was simply ignorant. Remilia decided she would have to ask people for information about this place later. It was a real pain not having Sakuya around to do the asking for her. The more time she spent in this school the more annoyed she became at being away from the mansion. She would have to find some entertainment or face complete boredom. It would be a challenge trying to care for Flandre in the meantime.
"There are many things I need to teach you, dear sister. As far as I know, we’re trapped in a school of some sorts. There is indeed a world outside of Gensokyo’s border, though if we’re there or somewhere else, I’m not sure…" Remilia replied. She figured she would leave the “mutual killing” part out. She didn’t want to give Flandre any ideas. Death would not be an issue, anyway, even without their powers. They were vampires.
She was also glad to hear Flandre would stay with her. It was more for keeping her safe than to be her company, though with the circumstances as they were, she wouldn’t mind spending time with her sister if they could find something that would be fun for them both.
"We have the rest of the day to spend as we like. Any ideas?" Remilia asked, wondering what Flandre would answer with.
It was true, Flandre was as ignorant as a newborn child. Not only had she never left the Scarlet Devil Mansion, she had hardly ever interacted with anyone other than her sister. She only knew very vague descriptions of the Outside World, so it was almost as if it wasn’t real at all.
"A…school? What’s that? I’ve never heard of that before…" It was true. Everything she knew had been taught to her by her sister, so she had never heard or been to a school before in her life. She wouldn’t need to if her sister was the one teaching her, after all.
Flandre’s mind drifted to what else was on this island. What was there to do here? What people were there to meet? She hoped that she could stay close to Remilia and not drift off, but that didn’t seem like a very high possibility. This island was so big it would be hard to stay with one person the whole time, especially when someone as curious as Flandre was the person trying to stick with someone.
"Well…we could always get something to eat? I’m hungry. Will you be bringing me food like usual, Sister?" Flandre had no idea that Remilia wasn’t the one that actually brought her food, she just assumed so because she never saw who brought the food. Flandre somehow doubted that they had the good they needed here, though.
Ah, yes. She should have given some forethought to her sister's ignorance. Of course she didn't know what a school was. Remilia sipped her tea, holding back the urge to sigh. How had she gotten into this mess again? She was reluctant to even try to explain the word, but she decided to do it anyway.
"A school is an institution for the purpose of educating others," Remilia said factly. Only if Flandre had further questions on the matter would she elaborate.
At the mention of food, however, Remilia couldn't help but feel worried. It's possible for vampires to eat regular food as well, but it would be futile for them both to survive without drinking the blood of a human as they needed. It would take too long to train Flandre on how to attack a human properly as well. It might not even be possible, with how she was.
Somehow Remilia would find a solution. "I can bring you food if you'd like. What would you like to eat?" she responded. She wondered if Flandre even had a preference.
scarlet sisters ► flandre and remilia
Remilia was startled by the sudden tackle, but took it in stride. She stood up and brushed herself off.
"Glad to see you too," she said with a smile.
She felt a surprising wave of relief wash over her as she realized her sister was safe. The feeling was a bit unfamiliar to her. It wasn’t that she didn’t care for her sister— in fact, it was the opposite. It was just that the two didn’t spend much time together, and Remilia even forgot about the existence of Flandre at times. Her sister’s appearance in such a desolate situation made Remilia realize that Flandre’s safety was important to her and that she did value her company.
Though as the gravity of the situation fell upon her, Remilia realized it would be quite worrisome to have Flandre wander freely. It would also be troublesome to have to keep watch over her all the time. Flandre knew nothing of the outside world of Gensokyo, let alone a place unfamiliar to even Remilia herself. Still, Flandre did respect Remilia, so getting her to listen would not be a problem at least. Since there was no other option, Remilia would have to become her teacher and guardian, unless she could find another person adequate enough. The matter of finding food concerned her as well. Flandre was never trained on how to attack a human, and with her power would probably end up killing them instead.
For the time being, Remilia decided she would spend the rest of the day with her sister, though she knew it would end up being a much longer time. She had a few questions to ask, anyway, and there were matters to discuss.
"Flandre… do you know exactly the kind of situation you’re in now? We’re not in Gensokyo anymore. It would be best if you stayed with me as much as possible."
Standing up with her sister, Flandre felt very very happy. She usually doesn’t even see her sister when they’re at home, so seeing her in this unknown place was almost a miracle! It was like fate was on their side or something along those lines. Still, Flandre had no idea where she was or how she got there. Although she was curious as to why she was there she didn’t really care all too much. She had her sister and she was outside so that’s more than she could really hope for.
"I’m not really sure where we are or what’s going on, but it’s really nice out here! I wish it wasn’t as bright but there’s so much fresh air and so much space to run around in that I don’t really mind." Remilia’s question confused Flandre for a second. Not in Gensokyo? Then where were they? Flandre had never been beyond the boundary of the Scarlet Devil Mansion so she just assumed she had gotten outside into Gensokyo somehow.
"If we aren’t in Gensokyo….then where are we, Sister? Did we get to that…Outside World somehow? Wherever we are, I’ll stay by your side, Sister!" Although she hardly ever saw her sister, Flandre has immense respect and love for her. She was a smart and powerful vampire who provided Flandre with food and took care of her. If Remilia told Flandre to do something, it would be hard for her to say no. It’s not like she was forced to obey her and follow her instructions, she did so of her own free will. It’s not like she had any other options.
As she expected, Flandre was just as clueless as she was. She couldn't blame her, though. She was simply ignorant. Remilia decided she would have to ask people for information about this place later. scarlet sisters ► flandre and remilia
Like a child who’s toys had been taken away from them, Remilia felt upset at having her life suddenly whisked away from her for more unfavorable conditions. Her castle, her maid, her sense of superiority and power were lost for the time being and Remilia could hardly stand it. She felt weak and lost in this strange school, yet at the same time, part of it intrigued her. If there was no means of escape for now, she decided she should try to make the best of it. There was still the danger of being murdered of course, but Remilia felt more annoyed than afraid, even without her danmaku abilities. There were people to talk to and things to do, which made her situation endurable, she supposed.
She found the park to be the most enjoyable place on the island, and spent her time alone sitting under the trees drinking tea and viewing the scenery. On this particular day, her mind wandered with thoughts the residents of the mansion. She was sure Sakuya would be diligent as ever and keep things running in her place. The others would likely follow her as well. She wondered how her sister was doing without her.
It was then she saw a flash of movement from the corner of her eye. Red dress, blonde hair, rainbow wings. It was undeniable who had showed up to see her. Remilia was a bit surprised to see someone else from Gensokyo show up, let alone the younger Scarlet whom she had been just thinking about, but it was a pleasant surprise nonetheless.
"Speak of the devil," Remilia said to herself, amused.
This is one of the only times that Flandre had ever been outside before. It was even better than she imagined! It was so much bigger and felt so much fresher than the SDM. The only bad thing is how bright the sun was here, but she had a parasol to keep the main brunt of the sun. She noticed she couldn’t fly and couldn’t even use her danmaku to play with anyone. Though she doubted there was anyone who could keep up with her anyways. At least she was finally able to interact with people outside of the Mansion.
Flandre wasn’t exactly sure where to go. There were so may places to go and so many things to do that she just decided to wander around aimlessly until she ran into someone who looked fun. She found herself wondering to the park area of the island and decided to look for someone instead of just wandering around. She searched around and didn’t find anyone until she looked at the tree.
Blue hair, white dress, bat wings bigger than the person themselves. They were even drinking tea! Excitement welled up in her chest when she figured out who it was. Sister! She was so excited to see her sister on this unknown island before seeing anyone else. Caught up in as much excitement as she was, Flandre cast aside her parasol and sprinted towards where Remilia was sitting. When Flandre reached Remilia she went from a sprint into a tackling hug.
"Sister! I’m so glad to see you!" Flandre hardly cared that now both of their dresses had grass stains on them, she was just happy to see her sister.
Remilia was startled by the sudden tackle, but took it in stride. She stood up and brushed herself off.
