What I do not love, is the "Canary Curse" (from an in universe implication perspective. from a fanon perspective it is fun and i like the canary art and fics.)

Because "Canary Curse" a term practically hand crafted to demean Jimmy and rob him of his agency. To attribute his choices to fate and tell him there's no hope for him. To say he belongs in a cage, placed there by the watchers, and every death of his is proof that he is not his own. It denies him pride over his actions, it denies him hope for his future, it denies him a lot of his own personal identity.

Of course, Jimmy was never actually cursed, The Watchers, frankly, don't have the power to decide anyone's fate, let alone someone so strong willed as jimmy (no matter how much we, the fans, as the watchers, might like to pretend to have him caged). Jimmy was never cursed, he made his own choices, paired with normal bad luck, and then he was told that his failures have to be his identity, that it's fate, that he's cursed, that it's all he is, and his choices aren't his own.
