About Me
Hello! My name is Acro, and Iām an arospec ace NB (they/them) born in ā91. Iām old. Iāve been self-shipping for all of my time online and only in the mid-2010s did I start to stop being so secretive and ashamed of it, partly due to the resurgence of self-ship/x-reader positivity, and my enabling partner and friends who also self-ship. I decided to make a side-blog to put everything on so I donāt bother people on my main with things. And also because Iām really shy.
Married to @mixterglacia since September 2019, together since 2013, and we enable the hell out of each other. We even share a few F/Os, which is something I never thought Iād do. A couple that simps together, stays together lol
Iām working full-time as a vet tech in my offline life, so things can get busy. Between that and me being shy as all hell, this blog can be very quiet if not completely inactive at times. The most I may do is reblog art from my art blog relating to it.
Things specific to me as a self-shipper:
Somehow, I feel more comfortable creating self-inserts that are more OCs heavily based on me personality-wise but donāt resemble me physically, than actually thinking of things in the first person sense and putting my literal self in those situations. A few of my inserts look like me, but most of them donāt, and arenāt even human. I have a hard time with putting full attention on myself like that, and thatās one of the ways Iāve found to get around it. Weirdly enough, if other people direct things at actual me and not involve my self-inserts itās okay, but if I try to orchestrate everything that way it feels wrong. There are a few exceptions where the self-insert is pretty close to me, but they are just that - exceptions.
Iām a sex-repulsed ace. I love the idea of being physically affectionate as far as cuddling and chaste kisses and being physically close, but the instant it involves genitals or sexual arousal Iām out. Give me pure fluff or give me death.
Iām more than a little possessive of my F/Os being shipped with others, be they fellow canon characters or other OCs/self-inserts, so Iām not comfortable sharing them. I use blacklist extensions to filter those out. I may block users too if I feel uncomfortable, no hard feelings - just curating my feed. I do have a few exceptions, but for the most part I donāt like the concept of sharing. Iām insecure enough as is trying to tell myself itās okay to self-ship and that my F/Os would like me, and seeing others sort of undermines that and makes it feel like Iām a weird stalker homewrecker that needs to back off.Ā
I havenāt been diagnosed formally, but I do meet most if not all the criteria for Avoidant Personality Disorder, and one of the big elements is a constant feeling of inadequacy and like people are pretending to like you and would rather just forget about you entirely, and your presence actually annoys them. I have a hard time trying to justify my F/Os liking me at all, that trying to simultaneously entertain the idea of them in other ships just makes me spiral into feelings of āIām not enough for my F/O. Iām awful for thinking like this in the first place. Iām a horrible person.ā and so on. Self-ships are a sort of refuge away from feeling like that with IRL relationships all the time, and it doesnāt work if I try to factor in sharing.
I donāt have actual self-inserts developed for all the characters Iāve got crushes on, but I do have them for the moreā¦ serious crushes? The ones Iām especially into.Ā
Iāve noticed that on account of being ace and on the aromantic spectrum, sometimes I canāt tell if what Iām feeling for a character is romantic or platonic. I just know the feelings are Strongā¢. It all boils down to being the otherās Most Important Person.

+ Genji ShimadaĀ š (Overwatch) - usually the āalpha husbandā based solely on the fact that heās a popular character and has way more official/fan content than most of my other F/Os combined, and so heās more likely to grab my attention. That, and his source material is still putting out material. Not to mention Iām constantly terrified of canon material putting him in a relationship, so I feel a need to stay on my toes, so to speak. I love this dork cyborg ninja dude. Paired with my self-insert Videre. Ship name/corresponding tag is Dragonfly.
+ Shockwave šāšØ (any Transformers continuity, but mostly TFP) - started as a sort of joke because he looks like my lampsona, and then it turned out his logical science-driven personality and being the no-nonsense one that could easily take down others (at least in TFP, when I really started to pay attention to Transformers) was really attractive. Not to mention his frame shape is really nice. Paired with my self-insert Astro, drawn on occasion with my lampsona (since Astro is literally just the robot equivalent of my lampsona).Ā Ship name/corresponding tag is Astrowave.
+ Prince Sidon š¦ (Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild) -Ā first I fell for the big beautiful shark manās appearance in BotW stills, and then it turned out he was super positive and nice and I fell even harder. Paired with my self-insertĀ Ponzu. Ship name/corresponding tag is Fish Sauce.
+ Grillby š„ (Undertale) - between the fanbase producing nice fanart and the rise of reader-insert material in general with the Undertale fandom, I of course fell for the faceless fire man in a snappy vest. I even added some of my own content to the reader-insert imagines field because I was a little off-put by just how much of it was nsfw/implied to have nsfw ties, and I just wanted fluff. Paired with my self-insert Aker.Ā Ship name/corresponding tag is Lava Lamp.
+ Schwarzwald š¬Ā (The Big O) - one of the longest-standing ones here, since either 2004 or 2005. Probably the true "alpha husband", let's be real. I had a veryĀ intense period of time several-years-long where I was extremely invested, and I so badly wish there had been a self-ship community at that time, because it was exactly what I was doing, but I was so bashful and ashamed I kept it all to myself. Anyways! The older I get the more I look at this crazy man and think āoh my god he had the right ideaā. There are a lot of trends in my tastes and mindsets that I fully blame him on. Paired with my relatively newly-revived self-insert Noakes. Ship name TBD.
+ General Grievous š (Star Wars) - the oldest f/o on the list, dating all the way back to 2003. While I do have an self-insert/OC to ship with him, Iāve never posted them anywhere and honestly donāt have anything to show outside of a vague sketch page. Said OC doesnāt even have a name. Details pending.
The Secondaries
I have developed self-inserts for a few of these, but I donāt feel as strongly for these as I do the previous set. In some instances, I was very invested in the past, but now things have simmered down. I still love them a lot, though. If there are specific details about the corresponding self-insert (if there is one) Iāll include it if I can. Less uptight about sharing, but still possessive to some degree.
+ Mando/Din DjarinĀ šĀ (The Mandalorian) - once a contender for the role of āalpha husbandā. Iāve been weak for Mandalorian armor since I was a wee child watching the original Star Wars, so when The Mandalorian came out I was already predisposed. I see a lot of myself in Mando, and between that and my irl partner teasing me about it, everything went from crush to referring to him as a f/o to finally admitting Iām in deep enough for him to have ascended to fictional husband status. The Platonic Ones
I love these characters a lot, but in a platonic sense. Some of these are fictional characters that Iāve had about for the better part of my life, and others Iāve known for much less time and Iāve latched onto very quickly.
+ NiGHTS (NiGHTS Into Dreams/NiGHTS Journey of Dreams) - NiGHTS got me through some of my hardest transitional years as a tween in the early aughts, moving several hundred miles away from everything Iād grown up with, and I feel an enormous emotional attachment to them as a result.Ā I used to formally self-ship back in that time but now I see them as a very dear friend.
+ Rayman (all Ubisoft Rayman things, but especially the first Rayman game and Rayman 2: The Great Escape) - similar to NiGHTS, I leaned very heavily on Rayman in my tween years to get through some hard times. Rayman is like a very dear childhood friend because I āmetā him and learned to love him before that period, when I was still a kid. Some of my earliest self-ship writings that are long lost to time involved him. Itās really funny to think back on.

+ Erik (Phantom of the Opera) - I literally have been listening to PotO since I was born and I regard Erik as my weird as hell cousin of sorts. I always rooted for him even when I got older and realized how weird and creepy he was. Still my Weird Cousin Erik! Especially weird because sometimes he matches my, ahem, tastes in some depictions and things get weird because of it.
