Fundamentals of Visual Language - Evaluation
I believe I have completed my work to a high standard in this module, creating final pieces that I’ve been happy with and that are of a professional standard. Using cues from many different styles and designers to inspire me. I would say that the quality and presentation of my final work was something that I am most pleased with in this module.Â
Something I feel I could have definitely improved on however would be my time keeping; although I was happy with the majority of my projects, there was a few that I had completed last minute, and I felt I was limiting myself unnecessarily. In future units I’ll complete projects earlier in the timescale, when I still have time to develop them further, I feel like this would help me improve my work as well as allow me to develop my ideas and styles more.
Another result of not developing my work further was that I tended to stay within my comfort zone far too much, as I tended to stay within what I’d done before rather than try more adventurous and risky things. This could’ve been helped with more development and research, as I would feel more confident in doing something different if I had more to back it up with.Â
This could also be seen as a positive however, as a lot of my work featured a strong and clear style (a style that personally I really like), this meant that while I may not have been developing my work in different styles, I was experimenting and developing the style of work I chose to use so often. As a result I feel these pieces looked more professional and worked better than a lot of alternatives could.Â
Even though I left some of the projects late, I did hand them all in on time, which I believe is important, even if some work could be more in depth.Â
Overall, I believe I have been successful in the majority of this module, creating very good, portfolio quality work as well as enjoying the projects that we were set. I also believe that if I can improve on the points mentioned, including time keeping, organisation, development and not staying within what I know, I can improve in future modules and projects a produce higher quality work in a more organised and timely manner.
