I think that itâs incredibly infantile that on this blogging site, you canât defend someone from bad behaviour perpetrated against them without people assuming youâre calling them a perfect unproblematic angel who is a victim of someone unrepentantly evil and vile. Given my post about men mocking right wing politicians took off in a radical feminist direction, Iâll use that as an example. You see it reflected in the way everyone just accepts MRA dudebros taking time out from discussing false rape accusations and the wage gap, to talk about how terfs deserve to be raped and/or die paintully. Nobody wants to say anything about these men expressing these horrible views on women, in case people think that theyâre terfs, too (which really goes to show how little that word has come to mean given its indiscriminate usage). Or maybe they think the sentiments are justified, I donât really know. I do know that anybody who speaks out about it is accused of treating the women in question as correct on all fronts. Creating an environment where people are too afraid to address misogyny head on, where they have to foreground their posts about female celebs with âOk, I hate her, but you have to admit what happened to her was fucked upâ is so toxic. Why is addressing wrongs done to women painted as equivalent to holding those women up as paradigms of non-problematic feminism? You donât have to agree with a woman, to stand up against misogyny perpetrated against her. If you agree that misogyny is a form of oppression which affects all women in varying ways, then you should not need to make caveats about how something is still misogyny, despite how shitty x woman is, it should be obvious. It is obvious. Why canât people distinguish between addressing oppression, and painting someone as incapable of all wrong? Why is there this tendency to claim to care about all axes of oppression, by people who then turn around and treat oppression as a zero sum game? Get a grip, like I donât mean to be cliche but if thatâs how youâre viewing the world, youâre really going to struggle in the long term and I honestly hope things get better for you. I understand that the discourse on this site is fragmented because of microblogging, I understand that vulnerable young people are drawn in by reactionary rhetoric that tells them that theyâre disgusting trash if they donât immediately accept and repeat everything they hear. What I donât understand is creating an environment where abuse and harassment is treated as mega progressive praxis, and where people canât address wrongs done to anyone problematic.Â
Like, I know that Iâm sourly preaching here, but we need to take a look at the environment tumblr activism is fostering, when itâs acceptable to say random hateful shit to strangers based on a hunch or because someone said theyâre bad.Â
If you criticise a womanâs appearance, any womanâs appearance, youâre showing that you think a good way to attack a woman is to suggest that sheâs ugly. Youâre showing that youâre willing to use the fact that women are predominantly valued for our appearance, in order to attack a woman. Regardless of what that woman has done, regardless of how terrible she is, that reveals a lot about you as a person. It doesnât negate any awful behaviour on her behalf, it just makes clear that youâre complicit in reinforcing misogyny. Thatâs always gonna be on you, regardless of what anyone else does.
true but consider: terfs are hideous, smell like cheez whiz, and are highly knowledgeable about some white shit but donât even floss once a month?
Can you please explain to me, how any of that is relevant when this is a post about men making fun of right wing women in leftist political groups? Particularly, a situation I bore witness to yesterday whereby white men were mocking the face and body of a horrible, right-wing white woman who works in politics, instead of her heinous policies. If this was a secret terfy post and I was a secret terfy apologist, why the fuck would I be calling the women in question terrible, and talking about their awful behaviour? Wouldnât I be more sympathetic? Like use your brain for one minute, you reactionary asshole. I donât know why you chose to go on the defensive, or why youâre even talking about terfs on my post. Please leave me alone.
hereâs the deal: this is a post that is just about 1000 notes estranged from its original context, which youâve suggested is obnoxious, liberal men making fun of right wing women.  that is fair and good.  that is all very real.  in the US presidential election, a climate of patriarchy means that donald trumpâs critics will call him an âasshole,â but hillary clintonâs detractors will often resort to calling her a âb*tch,â using gendered language that reveals severe discomfort towards a woman coming to a position of national leadership.  again, that is all fair and good
but, again, this post is very much estranged from that context. Â the general statement preserved here is the sort of thing that trans exclusionary blogs gobble up. Â itâs a statement that without its appropriate context (the way we approach criticizing otherâs views on governmental politics,) is reduced to something that can be easily perverted to leverage viewpoints that are expressed only to walk all over trans people, especially trans women. Â
thatâs sort of the problem here. Â i donât take issue with you for making this post and i donât take issue with anyone spreading it, but the original context of the post would mean nothing when a terf reblogs it to attempt to silence trans critics
I made this post on a bus, shopping before a concert. You acted like it was on me, like it was my fault that it had been reblogged. You were all too eager to jump to conclusions and say horrible things about a stranger, because I made a general post about a fucking pretty obvious truth about misogyny.
I don't control which of my posts are going to receive notes, acting like an off handed thing I wrote is devoid of context as a product of it being widely reblogged, and then going on and writing posts about how I canât read simply because it sounds like something you despise, is fucked up.Â
Acknowledge that, instead of putting the blame on someone who did nothing wrong. I woke up to harassment because of your hunch. Your imputation doesnât change the fact that what I wrote was innocuous, and neither does anyone reblogging it. Your reaction to my post was unjustified.
Yeah, Iâm deleting this blog in a few days. iâve been here for 5 years, but I canât stand being harassed by pathetic people imputing views on me which I donât have and using it as a justification to treat me like shit.
@ mutuals, if I ever start blogging again, please let me know if you would like me to re-follow you. Idk, like this or send me a message or w/e.

i feel like this post was made by a radfem that got dragged for being gross towards a trans woman
No, I try to steer clear of the transphobia in radical feminism and actually have never engaged negatively with a trans woman on this website to my knowledge. It isn't something I seek out. It isn't part of my politics. I also haven't been dragged for being ugly at all afaik. I was talking about men in leftist movements who call right wing women ugly, but ok. Good job jumping wildly to assumptions.
