Broadcast's Echo's Answer. I'm more familiar with the version they recorded for John Peel, but the original is pretty amazing too. I think the studio version sounds weirder, like it could fall apart easily, while the live version I like for how loud the stabs are at the start; it makes it all much more intense.

BBNG (Bad Not Good) posted this great cover of some (MF) Doom tracks (Supervillain Theme + Fazers + Vomitspit). As far as I can tell it's never appeared on their albums. It's quite nice, similar to the originals but altogether a nice mix and perhaps a way to get your Jazz leaning friend in to something different.

Also worth checking out is their remix of Guv'nor by JJ Doom (another Doom project). It's very dark and quite amazing.

This is Eurocheque and was recorded in 1982 (?) but was released in 2005 on a compilation. Notice that it sounds quite similar to The KLF's What Time Is Love? That was released in 1988 for the first time.

My favourite version of What Time Is Love would have to be America : What Time Is Love, which manages to take everything over the top and then take it further again, although the "just the pipeband" version stacks up nicely as well.

This is Black Widow by Madlib (from Rock Kondukta) which contains a large sample from Tomorrow's Now Your Time Has Come (from around 4:15 minutes in), which I've embedded below. I really like how Madlib has made the drums seem to hit so much harder which makes the original Tomorrow song seem a bit slow and soft in comparison. I really love the way the drums in this song and how they are used to introduce time changes, and Madlib's version really emphasises this even more.

Jessica Pratt's voice is something amazing. Similar to early Angel Olsen in the way her voice moves around within the delay. They're not so similar really but I found them around the same time. Here's a newer track from Pratt.

Speaking of Angel Olsen I also really enjoyed where she went with her latest album as it's quite different from her earlier, rawer recordings. There's more instrumentation now which is an interesting development and personally this is in my top five for albums of the year.

Although I'm not a fan of this album as a whole I still really enjoy the first track, Keep You, and its use of sax. It's almost like the sax solo from My Lovely Horse but better.

As far as the rest of the album goes it's not bad it just suffers in comparison the opening track.

There's been a few compilations put out of Modern Art. I think this is my favourite track by them. Vinyl On Demand put out a massive collection of their stuff a few years back.

A really nice remix of Aphex Twin's "Avril 14th", here's the original. The original is amazing but I've been enjoying this version lately too. The original is also in the trailer to the new Spike Jonze film Her.

And here's the original slowed down in to a twenty minute piece. Only to be outdone by the original and the slowed down versions played at the same time here. Nice.
