As I keep working on bigger illustrations my time is limited but every now and then I gotta draw some Elgarook for my sanity.

We know he's a spirit of Tyranny, but if we read into how demons and spirits have always been described demons are only the shadow forms of a spirit who's purpose was twisted or corrupted.

Tyranny is already a darker version of other emotions and concepts and so cannot have been Elgar'nan's original spirit form. So that being said I posit that he was either originally Command or far more likely, and much more tragically (and let's be real we're here for the angst) he was Protection.

To me it's obvious in the way he know very perversely demands love and the need to be allowed to protect, shield, and shepard his followers. His is not the same beneficent protection that we associate with Mythal (who I actually think is more akin to Motherly Protection, or Parenthood in general). It's the all consuming protection. The need to keep what is yours safe, the easiest version of Protection that can be corrupted with the right fear.

It's the protection that turns to obsession then the need to control. To keep, to possess regardless of what others desire.

New Elgarook for those into this blooming side of the fandom👀 Headcanoning my Rook is a mage but he's also hella scared of the destructive nature of his powers. Nobody knows power as good as daddy Elgar'nan. He's a good teacher.
