The longer you withhold them from me, the more chance we have to allow the Resistance to slip between our fingers. And you would like to not be responsible for that wouldn’t you, Lieutenant?   ❜

VRENI KRON has never known her father - nor has she wanted to. Her mother worked well enough as her sole parent, a single mother who fought against the dog-eat-dog world of the Imperial Military. Vreni and Valda both assumed he was a Lieutenant that was killed on the DEATH STAR, that they would never meet him. And they were comfortable with it. This - however - was not so. HIS NAME WAS COLONEL NIKO KRIER. The same Niko Krier that took her under his wing during her time at the Academy and during her early missions and her beginning political climb. To make up for the lack of fatherhood he had missed during her and Valda’s formative years ( when the Kron women were bouncing from Star Destroyer to Star Destroyer ), he attempted bonding with the twins. Valda - in typical Valda fashion - ignored his attempts, believing him to just be treating her with the typical respect. Vreni did not; she was intrigued and became close with him, taking his advice. She became his mentee - and she was none the wiser to his original status as her father. 

Niko Krier reveled in it, in their connection, in the fact that his daughter inherited his political ambition, her fondness for languages, and her immediate interest in espionage. While he mourned the lack of connection with his eldest daughter, it was not enough to affect his relationship with Vreni. And Vreni was excited - she hung on his every word and not so subtly idolized him and his accomplishments. Krier told his daughter that anything a man could do, she could do, and encouraged her to pursue anything. In order to keep himself hidden as her father, he encouraged her promiscuous nature, reminding her that spreading her legs too frequently would cause rumours to fly and would affect her reputation. 

Vreni expected him to ask for sexual favours from her. She knew this was the norm as her mother had warned her about it many years prior. Originally, she believed he was gay, until she found him with men and women. It infuriated her that he did not want her and she attempted to pursue him, but to no avail. Eventually, she decided that it was not worth it - none the wiser to the fact that he was her father.

Niko Krier never told Vreni about his relationship to her nor her mother. At the time Isla Kron became pregnant with the twins, Krier was already a Colonel and could not pursue a relationship with the Major, due to his believe that her relationship with him would be beneficial and would likely be believed to be coercive, as the Major presented herself as a very shy and quiet woman.
