Dreaming Wide Awake

I'm going to the Hands Like Houses show soon and had an idea to try to illustrate one of their songs. Paradise is probably my top favourite one from them, and I find myself singing it to myself (pretending that the second part of the chorus doesn't exist) when I'm feeling stressed.

The main idea was to draw Hinata pretending that everything is fine when everything is not fine. One of the times I sang this song to calm myself down was during a paddling experience in November (which did not go so well), so Hinata is doing some paddling too now!

New headcanon was unlocked thanks to an Instagram comment (will share it and some other info below the cut), and I had to draw this. I feel like my comics are getting more and more niche, but I liked the idea (then hated it while I was halfway done, and liked it again when it was finished), so enjoy!

Thank you! I'm not pagan, just Slavic :) The idea for the drawings came to me after a discussion of different seasonal holidays with my international friends. I remembered Kupala's Night celebration, and my brain immediately went like "I need to draw the boys in beautiful flower crowns". I've never participated in Kupala's Night celebrations myself before, but as I was working on the illustrations and looking at different references, I got more and more fascinated by this tradition. Now I'm tempted to make some flower crowns and go get lost in a forest with my friends this summer 😅

Also, a random fact: I did the initial rough sketch of Hinata during a train ride, and later did the sketch of Kageyama during another train ride.
