I think about it all the time actually. I think about how unlikely friendship between between the privileged rich boy son of a world champion and the only black kid from steveange who in their first race beat him on the last lap of a race nico was leading (lewis said nico took that loss amazingly well and their friendship started). like on paper, they don't add up

but then you consider nico was an only child, a lonely and bullied one (esp for his long hair). and lewis had these euro kids who were jealous and made him alienated + racism he faced. and suddenly these two found friendship in each other -- one so strong that they went on holidays together, tore up hotel rooms, keke made an entire mclaren mercedes benz karting team just so they could be teammates together, lewis making nico buy him sweets and saw him riding a unicycle so he learned how to ride one in like 3 hours so they'd unicycle across the track together. nico, who should be spoiled and privileged brat, doing setups for lewis' kart when lewis broke his hand -- and lewis, the absolute generational talent, won that race with a broken hand.
