I finished yet another spool this month! I'm using cheap thread and fabric to make muslins for better stuff in my wardrobe and this month I've managed to finish a dress and a flowy top but my room is still under renovation so it's not a good time to showcase the makes yet Can't wait until the renovations are over....
I'm making a top using batik I got from my bff's birthday party favor and it's coming along nicely. I should have make the center back piece with longer train but batik panel is 2 x 1 m only so the train is shorter than I'd like to but still, free batik fabric is awesome. This project also marks the very few times I actually finish a tube of thread. It shouldn't feel like an achievement but it did anyway :)
Chokers are trending this season and they are super easy to make. I made two lace ones for myself last week. Just measure around neck, add 1.5 inch, hem the two short edges, add buttonhole and button and you'll have a new accessory ! Cheers, lovelies! Lace ones look super chic and girly for summer. I need to make more in velvet and black lace too.
Songket peplum skirt done ! Self drafted pencil skirt and peplum. I inserted horsehair braid in the peplum to keep it flush because droopy peplum looks sad....I don't like it. The inside seams are bound like hongkong seams but with a purple thin ribbon instead of bias tape. material : 1.5m songket fabric (frays like crazy so I hade to do hongkong seams) , invisible zip , about .5 m of horsehair braid , skirt hook and eye. cost : 10 usd altogether.

Need to make a few alterations for the next pair but this one is good enough :)
made some skinny printed pants. The fit needs a few alterations but otherwise all good. I will be making more of these soon !
material : stretch cotton. invisible zip. sugar cloth for the waistband vliseline.
cost: 12 dollars all. woohooo. lots of scraps left to make a cute top. I’m so glad normal fabric is so cheap where I come from.
My day today
rip rip rip sew sew sew rip rip sew sew rip sew I need to finish that Sonja dress and pencil skirt already !
Felt backed simple brooch. This makes my dress looks more preppy :) Materials : Buttons about 30 cents each. The woven rubberband is like, 80 cents/m? but I use so little of it, this whole thing only costs me a dollar probably.
I'm so stupid. This isn't the first time it happened.
Finished with sewing my Sonja dress zipper but I forgot to sew up the top part before closing the zipper so the zipper head flew off !!!!! Tried to put it back in but no...impossibru....wanna kill myself right about now. will have to go buy another pink zipper for it. arghhhh

On to refashioning an old shirt dress. I just finished seam ripping the sleeves to make ruffles for the hem because the shirt dress is a little too short for southeast Asia standards…heheh. My clover seam ripper is the best sewing investment I got. Every sewist needs a great seam ripper.
Made a super simple cloth bag for my shoes so I don’t ever have to use plastic bags when putting them in my travel luggage. Plastic bags are noisy and unsightly compared to shoebags like this one.
I’m very pleased with how it turned out since I didn’t do any planning or measurement and basically just winged it using scraps from other projects. I’d make the drawstrings shorter next time though
I prefer basting to pinning because I get needle pricks all the time when I make projects 😧 here inserting zippers to a plain white tee and basting invisible zipper for a flower-print pencil skirt . fight on
Refashioned another dress, because the top has lost its knit elasticity. So I cut the top off and keep the cute bubble skirt. just added an elastic waistband to make sure it doesn't slip off when I wear it. My friend says the skirt looks cute! *happy*
Recently I refashioned a bridesmaid dress I got into a pencil skirt because a pastel lilac one-piece isn't really my style and it'd be a shame to throw out the dress just like that. Turning it into a simple skirt ensures it'll get much more wear yeah.
The lace is stretch so i just took a pencil skirt I have and traced around it, cut, sewed and added elastic waistband. The lining is cut about 4 cm shorter than the lace so the lace would peek through abit. Shorter lining would look even nicer but I didn't want the countless perverts in my city to give any second glance at me.
It's such a simple and quick project but very rewarding because this turns out perfectly!

I bought a long and super cheap tie-dye scarf for only USD5 in Bali and refashioned it into a kimono because it’s more practical and looks cooler too. Besides, I have very little use for super long scarf in tropical weather. I think it was meant to double as “sarong” which was why it was so long and wide. The ends of the scarf have pretty fringes so I took one side as the hem for the kimono. Yay? Nay?

Embellished a plain and cheap grey tee I bought from HK so it doesn’t look so plain and cheap anymore.
The handsewing took a long, long time ….but it’s all worth it :D
