My experience traveling with Grabr, which is peer to peer international delivery service that allows one to travel with out having to spend a dime on tickets or accommodations.  In the Northern Cut of Brazil, lies Rio De Janeiro a place filled with Beautiful people inside and out and even a more gorgeous sceney. Many might warn you about the poverty and theft so always keep your wits and street smarts, but I luckily did not experience that what so ever.  

Most of us with Grabr travel on a budget so here are a few tips to get around without digging into your wallets:

Rent a bike average daily rental is $80 BZ reals = $25.00 US dollars. Biking through out a city allows you to see the diversity within the city and admire the architecture.  I took the advice of friends and went on the adventure to Santa Teresa, which was only 4 miles from where I was staying in Ipanema. There is an easy bike route along the beach that I took that crossed over 4 parts of Rio. 

Eat Street Food. If you are looking to eat like a local and experience the flavors which Rio has to offer I would suggest Tapiocas (like a tapioca taco/gluten free), also coxinhas are my all time favorite food of Brazil, along with the Barbecued meats.

Take Advantage of Hotel Breakfast and stalk on snacks for the day.

Uber is your friend, with cheaper taxi rates, and at times when taxi’s go on strike, Uber usually still is running. In addition, it also has an easy payment method rather than using your currency.

Don’t Fall into tourist traps like guided tours. For example, a tour of Corsovo was $175-$280 reals plus sugar loaf tour could come out to $400+  but I got uber to the drop-off and then bought the tickets for the rides up to the top. I spent less than $100 reals for that tour which was listed at $175 plus.

There are so many beautiful free locations like the beaches of Copacabana where you can drink coconuts and listen to live music while you dine. I  also explored Parque Lage which is free admission and beautiful jungle like park which is partially man made with caves a  has view of Cristo in the background. Let's not forget the old city known as Santa Teresa, lined cobble stone streets, painted murals and old castles with a view of the city. It is a breath taking the view. There are a few restaurants and places to stop where you can pause to enjoy the view.
