Reading: Well I just finished N.K. Jemisin’s amazing Broken Earth trilogy last night and I’m gonna need a day or two before I can get into another novel because my brain is still in it. So right now I’m just in the beginning of We Were Eight Years in Power by Ta-Nehisi Coates (NetGalley arc, woohoo).

Checking in because it’s apparently been a while

Oh man you guys, how is it possible that I haven’t done a single thing on here in over two months?!

Since I don’t want my blog space to die completely, and I plan on posting #boutofbooks updates here in a couple weeks, I figured I’d pop in and let you know I’m still alive – just mostly interneting via social media these days rather than here. For funsies, I’ll do a “Sarah Sundays” thing.

Reading:

May was super sucky because of this DAMN SPRAINED KNEE (it’s been 4.5 weeks but who’s counting) but I did manage to read 8 books and 17 comics, so at least there’s that. It feels weird because I definitely went through like 2 slumps, but then I guess I’d just sit and read a bunch of books in a row so it kind of made up for it, I don’t know.

For some reason, these Monthly TBR and then the Monthly Recap posts are the only ones I feel like doing at the moment. Part of it is that I’m busy. Everyone is busy, but when I’m super busy in one area of my life…

So long, February! Actually it was a nice month – had a sweet, quiet Valentine’s Day and I turned 30 (woohoo!) – but I seemed to be stuck in a weird reading slump. I mean, I finished 6 books, but it felt like everything was kind of a struggle.

Anyways, because of that I’m aiming relatively low for my March reads. And hopefully I’ll be getting my reading mojo back and will read even more than…

This was a weirdly busy week, capped off my a surprise visit from my mom and nephew! Which is great, of course, except yeah my reading is really suffering this month.

Reading: I still feel like I’m in a slump, but I finally settled on re-reading Heroine Complexby Sarah Kuhn so that at least I’m working on a Read Harder challenge. Plus it’s a super fun book and the sequel comes out this summer so…

I can’t handle how quick this weekend flew by. Oy. And work has been busy again, so yeah time is just flying right now. We’re basically halfway through the month already!

Reading: I finished Bad Ideaby Damon Suede, a M/M romance novel. Other than that though, BASICALLY NOTHING. I lost my mojo. I keep picking up a book, reading 15-20 pages, and putting it down and then picking up another book.…

I basically kicked January’s ass. I read 9 books and 34 comics. Whaaaat??? I know, crazy. My goal for the year is 60 books, so I mean… that’s a pretty big dent.

Be Not Afraid by Alyssa Cole– I bought this at BRL and Alyssa Cole signed it for me! This was my first read of the year –  two black protagonists who are on opposing sides of the Revolutionary War fall in love. Some serious topics…

Not sure about y’all but I had an AWESOME January. 9 books read! But I really slacked on reviews, because… reasons. I don’t know, not motivated to write them at the moment I guess.  Anyways, I’m hoping to keep the momentum going on February.

Retribution Falls by Chris Wooding – I’m really looking forward to re-reading this for the “Read a book you’ve read before” task for the 2017 Read Harder…

Late with my Sarah Sunday post once again because the weekend was ridiculous (car issues, argh).

This was also week 1 of the new presidency. In one week, our new president attacked healthcare, reproductive rights, the environment, Native people and lands, science, jobs (which also hurts veterans), refugees, immigrants, Mexico, and voting rights. That is a fucking LOT to take in and try to fight…

This has been a pretty fabulous weekend. The only downside is that I didn’t go to the gym at all, but I did read a bunch, and books that I ordered when I was having some very bleak feels on Friday (Inauguration Day) showed up today, so that’s cool.
