Old Xian started posting quite a bit on xiaohongshu lately, including some stuff that is not shared via weibo. However, unlike weibo, you can make an account on XHS without the need of a CN phone number. XHS is available via app only - simply head to your smartphone store and download the xiaohongshu app (little red book) and follow all the steps to set up an account - the only tricky bit can occur when you are asked to provide the country code of your phone number. If you don't know how your country is written in hanzi, you have to scroll down the long list and just keep a look out for your country code and then click on it once you spotted it. The app is only available in CN, but navigating through it is quite simple since it is very similar to instagram.
