Long post with feelings - ya ready? 🥱 Maureen and I were just surprised with the news that our album Fly on The Wall made @popmatters Top 20 Folk Albums of 2020. 😯 This album: Recorded when Maureen was 23 weeks pregnant, the night before my husband and I moved into our first big kid home. Released during a global pandemic, all shows cancelled, and 2 sets of twins under 2yrs old. I got a bit emotional reading the article - remembering the night we recorded the album at @tonalpark, what we’ve been through since, and the strong healing qualities of music. When I was in 6th grade, my teacher had us all write magazine articles imagining who and where we would be in the year 2020. I wrote an article in Rolling Stone about my band (which I thought would be called May Day. Kids, amiright?!) So, while this year has turned out wildly different than any of us could have imagined 10 months ago let alone in 1997, this album means a lot, the effort around it means a lot, and this incredibly kind recognition means a lot. We’re on this list with very talented folks we admire and we are honored. Thank you all for listening over the years and pushing us to keep challenging ourselves. ❤️ Mark your calendars for our official (and very belated) album release livestream NEXT THURSDAY 12/17 on Facebook live. 7pm. ❤️ OH and at the very top of the Pop Matters page they are asking for donations to keep the website alive.
