Narrations regarding the first ten of Dhul-Hijjah:

ุฌุงูุฏ ูุตูู
ุงูุนุดุฑุ ููุงู ุนุทุงุก ูุชููููุง.
Muhammad ibn Sฤซrฤซn used to fast the ten days. All the (first) ten days of Dhul-Hijjah. Then when the ten days and the days of tashrฤซq had passed, then he would not fast for nine days, just as he had fasted (because it is only the first nine days that one fast. As for the 10th day then it is forbidden to fast it).
And Mujฤhid used to fast the ten days, and โAtฤ would (also) undertake them.

ููุงู ุณุนูุฏ ุจู ุฌุจูุฑ ุฅุฐุง ุฏุฎู ุฃูุงู
ุงูุนุดุฑ ุงุฌุชูุฏ ุงุฌุชูุงุฏูุง ุดุฏูุฏูุง ุญุชู ู
ุง ููุงุฏ ููุฏุฑ ุนููู.
And Saโฤซd ibn Jubayr used to โ when the ten days would begin โ to exert himself with a great effort till an extend that he almost was not able to fulfill it.

ููุงูู ุงูุนุดุฑุ ุชุนุฌุจู ุงูุนุจุงุฏุฉุ ููููู: ุฃููุธูุง ุฎุฏู

ูุชุณุญุฑูู ูุตูู

ุนุฑูุฉ.
And from him that he said: โDo not turn of your lights on the nights of the ten days.โ And (performing) worship (on these days) would please him. And he would say: โWake up your servants so they can eat the suhลซr for fasting on the Day of โArafah.โ

And from Al-Hasan who said: โFasting one day from the ten days is equal to (fasting) two months.โ

ุฑุค ุจุดูุงุฏุฉ.
And Al-Awzฤโฤซ said: โIt has reached me that performing deeds on a day from the ten days is equal to (attending) a battle in the path of Allฤh. One fasts on its days and observes (the prayer during) its nights. (All this) except if a person is chosen for the Shahฤdah (i.e. attending martyrdom is bigger in reward).โ

Al-Awzฤโฤซ said: โThis hadฤซth was narrated to me by a man from Quraysh from Banลซ Makhzลซm, from the Prophet (sallAllฤhu โalayhi wa sallam)."
ูุนู ุฃูุณุ ุฑุถู ุงููู ุนููุ ูุงู: ูุงู ููุงู ูู ุฃูุงู
ุงูุนุดุฑ ุจูู ููู
ุฃููุ ูููู
ุนุฑูุฉ ุนุดุฑุฉ ุขูุงู ููู
. ูุนูู ูู ุงููุถู.
And from Anas (radiAllฤhu โanhu) who said: โIt used to be said about the ten days that for every day there is (the reward of) thousand. And the day of โArafah is equal to ten thousand days.โ Meaning: In virtue.

From Abลซ โUthmฤn An-Nahdฤซ (who said): โThey (i.e. the Salaf) used to consider three โtensโ as something important: The first ten of Al-Muharram, the first ten of Dhul-Hijjah, and the last ten days of Ramadฤn.โ
