Since you've been on an ATLA kick recently, have you heard of the new fighting game for it? It's called Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game. Not sure if you're into fighting games but it looks very faithful to the series animation wise, and even if you're not into the genre it'd be interesting to hear your thoughts on it.
Personally I don't care about being "faithful" animation-wise. Fighting Games are a fifth of an actual game, and they're designed in such a way to be fundamentally new player unfriendly. Honestly I object to the way fighting games are designed in principle.
I have a friend who never gets tired of fighting games, and he's been playing it. But what I've seen of it, it's just weird.
In the TSR universe, how would the Yuuzan Vong invasion go?
There's one nugget of wisdom that the Vong didn't learn: Don't go to war with Sith who actually know what they're doing.
When the Vong invaded, they did the same thing they did in Canon, which was sneak into the galaxy through Republic worlds and settle a foothold to accommodate their fleet.
Vong operatives failed to infiltrate the Sith Empire because the Sith could immediately detect them. The fact that the Vong were invisible through the Force was actually what gave them away because it's like spotting a black hole in a white sky.
The Sith Empire sent information about Force-cloaked extragalactic operatives to the Republic, which were ignored and believed to be a Sith trick.
Darth Amorosa spent 10 years building up the Imperial military in response to this new threat. She was completely transparent with the public, who eagerly contributed to military production. She'd also already rebuilt the Sith Order, so by the time the Vong actually invaded the Empire had twelve fleets, 2 billion military personnel, and 300 fully trained Sith.
When their fleets finally reached the Galaxy, the Vong punched into the galaxy by taking advantage of their operatives in the Republic. By the time the Republic Fleet were made aware of what was going on, the Vong had already conquered twelve worlds. The Republic's response was slow as their entire fleet had already been deployed on the other side of their territory to fortify the border with the Sith Empire.
All of this resulted in a massive scramble to move ships to the front to fight the Vong, who pushed the Republic back all the way to the Core.
It wasn't until the Vong were in orbit around Coruscant that the Sith Empire even entered the war. When the fleet finally pulled away from the border to reinforce the Core, Amorosa sent her fleet into Republic Space. They arrived in a surprise attack at Coruscant and opened fire on the Vong. Because the Vong hadn't managed to actually infiltrate the Empire, they were unprepared for the Imperial Navy or the Sith.
The Sith had spent a lot of time observing the Vong as they invaded the Republic, and so had started counteracting the Vong's Dovin basals with the Force, reinforcing their shields and interfering with the gravity wells the Vong were using.
While the Vong were focused in Coruscant, the Sith had sent another fleet through Republic Space to flank the Vong. They actually deployed a Planet Cracker designed to ignite the atmosphere of the planets the Vong had conquered. This heavily impacted their military strength as the fleet, small in number and centered around a primary dreadnought, would jump in, set fire to a planet and jump out again.
The Sith tactic of letting the Republic take much of the beating while they razed and ravaged Vong worlds proved extremely effective, but brought the Sith in conflict with the Republic Jedi Order.
While the New Jedi Order was a staunch Imperial ally, the Republic Jedi took up the old duty to the Republic and believed the Sith to be just as much of a threat as the Vong, so their forces were split between trying to fight the Vong and trying to intercept the Sith, despite the fact that the Sith Fleet had aided the Republic and was routing the Vong itself.
However, this would quickly change. The Jedi were so effective against the Vong that eventually the Vong tried to sue for peace, offering to keep only the territory they'd conquered and live in cooperation with the rest of the galaxy if the Republic sacrificed the Jedi to them. The Republic, run by corrupt idiots at their core, agreed and tried to appease the Vong.
The Republic Jedi were suddenly the target of a new Purge. Darth Amorosa offered the Jedi sanctuary in the Empire and the chance to join her wife's Jedi Order. Many of the Jedi took it, and the Imperial Fleets destroyed any and all ships that attempted to cross into the Empire to hunt Jedi.
The Vong were ultimately defeated 15 years after they invaded when Darth Estrela detonated a Thought Bomb on one of their capital ships. Because the Vong were an absence in the Force, the raw Force energy from the bomb reached out and struck every Vong that shared blood with those in its blast radius, which wiped out 85% of the Vong population.
Now completely devastated, the Vong fled into the Unknown Regions. Darth Amorosa had beacons set up to warn them if they tried to re-enter the wider galaxy.
Darth Estrela was rewarded for the utter devastation of the Vong through an Imperial Medal of Bravery. Darth Amorosa, feeling the sting of aging by this point, even promoted her to Dark Lady of the Sith and stepped down from her position.
The Republic was devastated by the War. Many of the old Senators were dead, and the new ones had been humbled greatly and accepted the Empire's offer of relief aid.
If you could redo an old project, what would it be?
TSR. Having a better understanding of who Alie is means a rewrite would be 20x better because all the early story growing pains would have been alleviated.
Not entertaining it until Into the Void is done though. Gonna treat myself to working on it when the Avatar video is through.

But JessieΒ didnβtΒ really wantΒ it to go away. It was just another one of those things that made himΒ adorable.Β
The sheriff shrugged. βYeah, I guess so,β she giggledΒ at him.Β

Of course, there was no official paperwork or anything, but they were toys, so whatever the kids who played with them said,Β went.Β
She figured Bonnie would eventually come toΒ havingΒ the idea. And thankfully her new friend Blaze had gladly gone along with it.Β
With the two girls occupied downstairs, taking a snack break and making plans for a sleepoverΒ with Bonnieβs parents, the two toys finally had a moment to themselves and to let itΒ allΒ sink in.Β
Jessie smiled at him and reached out a hand to findΒ his, intertwining their fingers together.Β
Buzz looked down at their hands, back up and her,Β and smiled too.Β

It was Trixie skipping up to them, followed by many of the other toys in the room who were also giving their congratulations.

The space ranger on the other hand had gone stock still, staring off into the middle distance.Β

Jessie knew that the βothersβ the tablet was referringΒ to were Smarty, Atlas, and Snappy, over at Blazeβs house β which wasΒ alsoΒ Emilyβs old house (a fact that she was still wrapping her head around).Β

Jessie chuckled. But then she looked over at Buzz, whom she caughtΒ gazingΒ at herΒ lovingly,Β eyes hooded.Β
Upon the smirk she donned, Buzz realizedΒ what he wasΒ doingΒ and he snapped to, blinking and averting his gaze bashfully.Β
It only made the grin on the cowgirlβs face stretch even further.Β
βThanks,β she said to Lily, βbut Iβll do it later. Right now, I think IΒ wannaΒ spend aΒ lilΒ time with my newΒ husband...βΒ
She said the last part with a little purr, slinging an arm around the space rangerβs shoulders and pulling him flush to her.Β
Buzz blushed, and the toys around them wolf-whistled and giggled at the two.Β
βNo problem,β Lily chirped, and to the toys she said, βAlright, guys,Β letsΒ give these two lovebirds a little space!βΒ
Then she turned to the robotΒ vaccum, with a hooded gaze of her own. βWanna help meΒ corralΒ theseΒ guysΒ outtaΒ here?βΒ
The robot made a littleΒ beeping sort ofΒ sound in reply and movedΒ forward,Β the toys obedientlyΒ goingΒ off.Β
Lily sighed, heartsΒ βΒ literallyΒ β inΒ her eyes as she watched the robotΒ vacuum. βWhat aΒ hunk...βΒ
And now that they were alone, Buzz peered up at Jessie.Β

Because he remembered, all those years ago, when he was standing next to the pretty redhead of a cowgirl in Andyβs room, the first day she had joined the gang.Β He had only hoped that something would happen between them.Β
He never imagined it would lead toΒ thisΒ though.Β
But the space ranger β as he recalled the three little aliens sayingΒ many a timeΒ to the Potato Heads β was eternally grateful for it.Β
He cleared his throat. βUm, Jessie?βΒ heΒ began, taking herΒ hand in his again.Β
Jessie smiled at him. βYeah?βΒ
Buzz scuffedΒ aΒ foot on the floor. βI know that, uh, weΒ technicallyΒ already had the wedding ceremony and all, but... um...βΒ
He scolded himself.Β Come on, Buzz... you can do this!Β He already failed to actually propose to her, even if Jessie had gotten the message.Β He could ask this...Β
βI mean, with the girls having Trixie interrupt and dramatizing the whole thing, I mean we technicallyΒ didnβtΒ get a chance to... um...βΒ
Jessie had a feeling she knew what he was leading up to. She placed a hand on her hip, smirking. βWhat?βΒ sheΒ prompted him.Β
Just say it,Β BuzzβsΒ consciousΒ snapped at him.Β SoΒ he took a deepΒ breath, andΒ forced the words to come out.Β
βTo...Β kiss,β he mumbled.Β
AndΒ maybe heΒ said it a little too low, orΒ maybe JessieΒ was being a tease, but sheΒ saidΒ βWhat was that, now?βΒ
SoΒ Buzz madeΒ himselfΒ say it again. Louder this time.Β
βToΒ kiss,β he said. And then he began to ramble.Β βYou know, I-I mean, itβs, um,Β customaryΒ for a kiss to be sharedΒ after theΒ pronunciationΒ of being husband and wife, but ah... I mean itΒ doesnβtΒ haveΒ to happen, but I mean, it would be, um,Β niceΒ and I - βΒ
All of aΒ suddenΒ he found a finger being pushed against his lips, hushing him. It was Jessieβs, and when he looked up at her, she was grinningΒ widely, eyes hooded.Β
βJust kiss me,Β deputy.βΒ
At a loss forΒ words, andΒ utterlyΒ captivated,Β he gave a simple nod.Β
And they faced each other, Buzz placing his hands on her waist, Jessieβs finding a place on his chest.Β
They looked at each other adoringly for a moment.Β
Then Buzz tilted his head up, Jessie dippingΒ hersΒ down.Β
And they met in the middle.Β
Just likeΒ beforeΒ it wasΒ wonderful.Β Maybe evenΒ better, being that theyΒ werenβtΒ in the middle of their mission andΒ didnβtΒ have any worries lingering at the back of either of their minds. It was just him and her, and their lips onΒ eachΒ otherβs.Β
Jessie was in bliss, her sweet space toy everything to her.Β
Buzz felt like he was floating. Like colors were swirling around him, like a crescendo of music was playing. She swept him off his feet. Or hisΒ footΒ at least.Β
Unconsciously his leg popped up behind him, but he hardly paid mind to it. So long as he was able to keep kissingΒ his wonderful cowgirl...Β
They parted, breathless, emerald eyes gazing deeply into blue.Β
Jessie lifted a hand up, caressing his face gently, Buzz leaning into the touch.Β
Then sheΒ gotΒ a playful lookΒ aboutΒ her.Β

The live action avatar movie sucked a lot but I do kinda like the costume design. Like the way that Aang's tattoos looked was pretty good
The thing is, the live action film is a Shyamalan film, so it's weird. It's a fun relic because it's bad in ways only a Shyamalan film can be bad.
The new film is just every shonen anime you've never wanted to watch combined with Flying Bark's obsession with covering distance in their action scenes.
It's 7 fight scenes bookended by aangst. It's like if you cut down the 9 Star Wars films to just the lightsaber fights and Kylo Ren bitching and moaning.

Project XIV anon. Uh wow, not what I was expecting. What's so bad about it?
It is horribly overdeveloped.
Problem 1 - Overloaded with Movesets
Project XIV has the same problem all the Another Road mods do, in that every single one of them adds in every major character's keyblade along with a character-specific moveset. So Xion gets the Gazing Eye with a Xehanort moveset, Master's Defender with an Aqua moveset, Void Gear with a Vanitas moveset, the claymore thing with a Saix moveset, you get the idea. It's something that every Character Overhaul mod is doing and it never works.
I know you could argue that Xion is the only character this actually works for, but it's still such an overcooked idea that renders some keyblades completely useless.
It's all the movesets you get in every character overhaul, and it's way too much. Trying to remember 9 different movesets + their Formechanges is absurd.
Problem 2 - Fucking With Magic
Every Keyblade changes your magic with your moveset. So Fire is a slam on Kingdom Key, ring AOE on Event Horizon, a projectile on Master's Defender, and some weird Darkness thing on Gazing Eye.
This is, genuinely, the worst part of the mod. Unless you play it for several hours, it's impossible to know what you're going to be using or whether Thunder is actually usable at all until you try and it gets you killed. Magic has to be reliable because it's 90% utility.
Problem 3 - Break
So Cure's replaced with Break, which is a Keyblade-specific move that heals based on damage dealt. So again, Gazing Eye has the Guardian slam the ground, Event Horizon is Infinity, you get the idea. This creates the problem where some Keyblades are straight up useless because their Cure heals for absolutely fuck all, and that's assuming it even works at all.
Given that Kingdom Hearts is so heavily balanced around Cure, especially in the early levels when you don't have Second Chance and not having full HP can be a death sentence due to Critical Mode one-hit kills, this is one of the most horribly incompetent additions I've ever seen.
Problem 4 - All The Usual Overhaul Problems
I want to find the first modder who decided to make a bunch of things suddenly cost Focus and try to make such an active game require resource management and hit them with pool noodles.
There's four or five new "mechanics" that exist purely to add Devil May Cry flair to the game. That is to say it makes the controls unintuitive as fuck.
They even mention Trick Actions, and there's an entire system (Imaginary Techniques) designed to add new abilities based on pressing Shift+WASD. This feature, by the way, renders casting on the move impossible. Luckily it's in the form of an ability so you can disable it. Unluckily it's added to Event Horizon's Formechanges.
See, the problem with adding DMC style shit into Kingdom Hearts is that Kingdom Hearts enemies are actually aggressive so you can't sit there trying to master the fiddly little fighting game controls that they operate on because they're going to snipe your ass. I don't actually remember how to do most of them specifically because they were so unintuitive that trying to use them in the thick of battle was asking to get killed, so I just... didn't?
Genuinely, this mod feels like it was made for "With Style" videos, where people beat the Limit Cut bosses with constant Keyblade switching and interwoven magic combos. A lot of the trailer and WIP videos showed Discount using a very specific mod that triples the health of the Limit Cut bosses while also tripling their Revenge Value, a mod that exists purely to let the player do super long combos, and it was NOT designed to be played without it.
There's apparently a 2.0 version in the works somewhere, but right now it's just fucking awful. It looks nice in videos, but it plays like absolute shit.
