The contrast of Feixiao not caring how long she lives vs Jiaoqiu doing everything he can to give her a future free of the Moon Rage hanging over her head

Moze telling Dan Heng, the Trailblazer, and Hanya that "there's nothing you can do for [Jiaoqiu] now, and his safety shouldn't be one of your priorities" (and Dan Heng reacting understandably badly to that), but then as the quests go on, what does he spend most of his time doing? Trying to rescue Jiaoqiu, and even facing Hoolay alone to do so (though that attempt ultimately failed).

Feixiao expressing her grief and regret for what Jiaoqiu suffered (which is in stark contrast to how unconcerned she pretended to be earlier in conversation with Yanqing) and the way he brushes it off, because it wasn't in vain and his eyesight is a small price to pay for Feixiao's salvation and Hoolay's death

The fact that when Jiaoqiu was hanging out by the ocean at the alchemy commission, Moze wasn't far behind him and he didn't even know it until Feixiao came by to promise to find someone or something that can restore his sight and Moze interrupted to swear vengeance for Jiaoqiu

but then again. I don't WANT fan service sp characters. even if those are my favorite characters (which both of them are), I'd rather them release 2 new characters and 2 skins for them in the same patch than this. even if it means I won't be able to afford both

He is played obviously camp and dramatic, for a start, and there is the aforementioned "hate your hair/not likely/yikes yikes yikes/let me guess you have a great personality" summary dismissal of all his potential brides. Then he spends dinner asking Yzma about Kronk ("so he seems nice? He's what, in his late twenties?") and otherwise being slightly obsessed with him.

Then there is the whole Adventure of Doom with Pacha, him being ever huffy about the Kiss of Life, and then the restaurant gag where Kuzco takes to playing Pacha's fake wife and dressing up in ladies' clothing with great gusto (reinforced by the waitress' "bless you for coming out in public" remark when Pacha says they're on their honeymoon). Then when he is finally de-llamafied, we don't see him paired off with the obligatory girl from the lineup earlier, as might otherwise be expected in a Disney movie. Instead he is still single, but goes to found family it up with Pacha, Chica, Kronk, etc, which dare we remark is a very queer trope.

In short, I have no idea how a Disney movie with no white people (all the characters are Indigenous/people of color), a gay king, cross-dressing jokes, and the most offbeat plot of all time actually ever got made (can you imagine the Family Friendly Mouse doing that today? Let us also talk about Kronk because he is a brilliant deconstruction of both toxic masculinity and the musclebound henchman stereotype.) Other than that this was the Chaos Hour of animated movies in the late 90s/early 2000s, and yes.

Please, read this article if you have some time. Fandom doesn't know shit; the memes are only fun because of the absurd contrast that a insane death seeker mass murdered could be patient and actually good with kids.

Also, seeing Dan Heng for the past 100? 200? years and hunting him down until death or escape because the mara and insanity takes over getting suddenly changed to "you make me calm"????? What In The Fuck?

I thought it was funny the obvious flirting and insinuation when I saw that scene at first, and then it was kinda weird because they're also going strong on the danstelle/dancae shipping as official, but besides memeing (which should stay totally as off-character, off-actual-game), it's just plain wrong characterization.

Perhaps we could just go through the classic escape route of Blame The Woman, and say that Kafka fucked up his head so much she fixed him but also made him a worse-bland character. Tame. So the question now is how messed up they made her. Perhaps Doting Mother Kafka to go with Doting Dad Blade? Maybe she will say something absurd like she is afraid (!) for TBs safety, and that is actually the whole point of her following Elio - to learn about the motherly fear all woman have for their dear dear offspring.
