Capcom with the Pride Month gift of “you’re gonna be able to play as Heisenberg and Lady D in Mercenaries.”
idk i think her smile lines, wrinkles, and etc r sOOOO fun to draw and they R SOOO PRETTYY <33 women with smile lines/crowsfeet >>>>
Question for you, I’ve been following your blog for a while and something came to my mind. Do you think Alcina knew Miranda abandoned her and her daughters?
Based off her dialogue during her boss fight, I would say that no, she didn't know that Miranda had been testing the Lords and that she had ultimately failed her qualifications.
There is one line in particular where she goes: "Rose is our only hope! We won't hand her over to the likes of you!". Considering that she was the only Dimitrescu left by that point, it seems that her "we" refers to herself and Miranda. I've talked about this before, but looking at the cradle in her room and the fact that the daughters are named alphabetically so that E would come next (and we know from RE7 that this was also how the Mutamycete girls had been named), my theory is that Alcina's belief that she was special made her think that once the ceremony was over, Miranda would ditch the other Lords and the two of them would make up this pseudo-family. She continues to speak of Miranda fondly/obsessively until the moment of her death, too.
Her frustrations with Miranda treating her as she does her "siblings" aside, there's nothing to indicate that Alcina ever betrayed her. Even her whole "to hell with the ceremony" always read, at least to me, as her temporarily putting her own sense of vengeance first so she could right the debts that had been placed against her domain, rather than her breaking her faith in some form. Ethan was meant to be dead by Heisenberg's hand already, so why shouldn't she see to that as well before returning to Miranda's cause? I believe there was also an interview with one of the writers where he does mention that Alcina is really the best out of the Lords, in that she gets things done and that her devotion is so strong as to make her be the one questioning the other members of the cult on their faith.

People that want to fix Alcina are cowards.
I want Alcina exactly the way she is. She is my cannibalistic dragon, and I will cherish her until the day she sucks me dry.
RESIDENT EVIL VILLAGE | Alcina Dimitrescu
We love a feral lady dimitrescu on the hunt
"... however, the dragon was not yet vanquished - and the knight trembled in fear."
Resident Evil: Village celebrates its 1-year anniversary today - and of course I wanted to post my artistic contribution to this milestone. Lady Alcina Dimitrescu has transcended the confines of the game - and rightly so! She's a brilliant and iconic character. I might never get tired of drawing her. So I think it's only fair that I give her kind of a happy ending with this artwork. 😊
Over the past year, RE8 has led me to a wonderful community, which has even resulted in some friendships. Oddly wholesome for a horror game, right?
Cheers to all of you who are a part of this vibrant, creative and strong community - and of course to the vast team bringing the game to life! You are legendary!

Always gotta get them angles! Colored version
Call me sensitive all you want, but seeing a bunch of men swoop in to say “SEE?? SHE WAS MARRIED TO A GUY!!” after a popular RE artist posted that portrait of Alcina where she has a ring on her left ring finger, even though all the files seem to indicate that Dimitrescu is her maiden name (and the portrait is just a bunch of photoshopped Victorian paintings with Helena’s face added anyways, and probably should not be overanalyzed like most of RE’s writing), really reminded me of how important canonical lesbian representation is. Some will even conveniently pretend that every woman of the past was forced into a marriage with a man - even though like, half of us have at least one “spinster aunt” in every generation of the family tree - simply to find a justification for her treatment of men. As though being born in the early 20th century as someone who is canonically chronically ill/disabled would not be enough to make a person like Alcina resent the patriarchal system of the time, and that the only plausible explanation for a woman not being fond of men is that she was romantically or sexually abused by them. There’s an entire thesis to be written here, but it merely rubs me off the wrong way.
(And yes, lesbians have entered white and lavender marriages before, but I really doubt Capcom would dare make this into a plotpoint and that the fandom at large would ever see past that “Mrs.” title.)
It almost seems like there is this huge chunk of the fandom that desperately wants to prove wrong those who interpreted her as gay, beyond a simple “I disagree with this reading of the primary material and will therefore ignore it”, and the more I see it, the more I think these people resent the notion that a character as great as Alcina could ever be a lesbian. And boy, does the subtle lesbophobia suck.
So, if you are an LGBT+ member of the fandom, and specially a lesbian, here is nothing but a well-meaning reminder that there are plenty of creators large and small alike putting out genuine representation out there, often told from personal experience. Look to them if in the coming months, Capcom’s treatment of Lady D’s character comes to disappoint you (though I wish to have faith, I am sure it will by this point). And if you don’t see your story represented anywhere, consider taking it upon yourself to leave your mark. I assure you that whatever you create will mean the world to someone else who is also desperately waiting to at last be seen by the media they consume.
I have seen a few people comment in regards to the vinyl cover that it seems weird for the daughters to act so formal towards Alcina, but I think it quite natural. In fact, I would say it is even a more realistic characterization of their dynamic than her being overly affectionate. She is a noble, after all, and so one must expect her to keep up a level of decorum even when in private.
Not only that, pay attention to these two elements from the game:
As per her diary, the phone call scene, and her dialogue with Cassandra, Alcina places utmost importance on her daughters' obedience. She primarily cares about how well they perform to her standards - to the point where she will write off Bela's failure to put Ethan down as him "proving himself too much for her daughters to handle", and then telling Cassandra to kill him or else she wouldn't be acting like her child. She does care about the girls, but that does not make her soft or beyond acting cruel to her own kind.
During the scene where they bring Ethan to Alcina, the daughters respond to all her commands rather formally. "Yes, Mother" is their answer, and they act accordingly to all her non-verbal cues in a way that is very much practiced. The knife, the handkerchief, how they bring the prey to her before having their fill - all things they were most likely taught to do. They also exit only after she has, showing that she takes precedence as the matriarch.
On a similar note, a few interviews with the developers have Alcina described as "the de facto cult leader of House Dimitrescu" and mention how the daughters are constantly fighting to see who will win her approval. Some of Bela's lines reinforce this idea of all girls trying to gain Alcina's favor - for example, Bela planned to kill Ethan and then make him into a meal for Alcina to enjoy. Cassandra ends up eating nails and skin when she isn't fast enough, even though Alcina promises food for everyone. There is an edge to their family life that should not be ignored.
Fandom portrayals aside, Alcina's affection towards the sisterly trio is not mutually exclusive with the fact that Village is a horror game, and that the noble status of their family combined with who Alcina is as a character does add a degree of procedural diligence to their relationship as a family. Think of how people at the start of the 20th century treated their children, especially those coming from aristocratic backgrounds.
new official art!!!! finally content after ages
Yeah, yeah, Heinsenberg calls Lady Dimitrescu “Lady super sized bitch” in the English version of RE8
But may I present you the French version: “La grognasse avec son gros cul”, which literally translates to “The grumpy one with her fat ass”
