Antonin knew - or he thought he knew - what was going on here.  He was a seventh year, he was Head Boy, and heâd been (almost, sort of) directly involved with the attack that had led to this whole silly exercise⌠so it made sense that he was being paired with a fifth year kid.  It looked good, there were no chances of anything getting too out of hand or him looking any worse than he did those first couple days after the attack on Benjy.  He looked up from the pairing list with just the slightest, tiniest little roll of his eyes (heâd been looking forward to something more of a challenge, maybe even a chance to accidentally let things get a little more physical in the name of letting off steam) before fixing his normal easy charming smile on his face and searching for the younger boy.
âSamuel Bones? Â Looks like you and I are paired for this one.â Â He said, loudly and authoritatively, rolling up his sleeves and looking over the group of fifth years, waiting expectantly for the boy to step forward. Â Everyone knew who he was, after all, and he wasnât sure he could pick out Edgar Bonesâs - his longtime rival and fellow student heâd snatched the Head position from - baby brother in a crowd.
âOh, brother.â Sam mumbled under his breath upon realizing that he had been partnered up with Antonin Dolohov of all people. That couldnât be fair at all! He was only fifteen, for Merlinâs sake. He hadnât even taken his O.W.Lâs! Yet they wanted to pair him with a seventh year? And not just any seventh year, but the Head Boy! And of course it had to be the very same Head Boy who had stolen the title right from under his brotherâs nose. With one more frustrated noise, Sam hesitantly stepped out of the crowd of his fellow classmates, right into the view of Antonin.Â
Sam rubbed the back of his neck as he walked towards him. Slowing to a stop right in front of Antonin, he smiled gently, âEr, hi.â He offered a hand out to Antonin, as he was never one to forget his manners after all, âIâm Sam Bones. I guess weâre dueling together, huh?â He reached into the pockets of his robe and pulled out his wand, clutching it tightly between his fingers.
