Do More. Keep Going.
Do more. Work harder. Keep going. Sometimes we need these simple reminders.
For those days where it feels like the weight of the world is on your shoulders, and your energy can be drained simply by moving your fingers, it’s important to still “do” something.
When you wake up and don’t feel like tackling your work load, it’s easy to drop everything, procrastinate, and do nothing. Instead of putting off the things you need to get done and wasting away the day, at the very least, ask yourself what you CAN do. What can you do right now, even if it’s not what you originally hoped to accomplish?
If you’re not in the mood to jump straight into your work for the day, go fold the laundry. If you’re brain’s too fried to tackle your algebra, organize your room. Can’t muster the willpower to clean the bathrooms like you planned? Work out for an hour instead.
I’m definitely not saying that it’s okay to totally ignore the things you need to get done just because you aren’t in the mood. Sometimes we just need to suck it up, gather all our self-discipline, and get to work. But as long as they aren’t time sensitive, it’s okay to put our to-do lists on hold temporarily and tackle other things that can be done.
And if the issue is simply getting started, it can help to accomplish other tasks before jumping into work for the day. Instead of slumping around thinking, “I DON’T WANT TO DO THIS” and putting off your work, go accomplish something else, even if it feels small and insignificant. Staying busy gives you something positive—at the very least, you can check off all the things you HAVE done, and motivate yourself to keep being productive.
So stay positive. Get something—anything, big or small—done, and then see what you can accomplish next. Keep the cycle going for as long as you can. Do more.
Also, I came across the “Do More” motivational anthem thing from Casey Neistat. He has the words “do more” and “work harder” tattooed across his forearms. He’s my source of inspiration when it comes to pushing myself to keep going. If you haven’t heard of him, CHECK HIM OUT.
