What punishments would the yandere give, ranging from minimal to extreme? In what situations would Darling receive the milder punishments, and in what situations would they receive the more severe ones? How tolerant are yanderes? How does Darling react to these punishments (with different reactions for the milder versus the extreme ones)? Would the yandere feel regretful, and if so, how would they try to make up for it?

TW: Mentions of Non Con, violence and abuse.
As I've said in my first jjk Yandere Drabble, I see Satoru as a pretty tolerant Yandere. He's practically invincible and it's not like your kicking or yelling bothers him when he can't really feel it.
I feel his punishments wouldn't be that bad if he sees what you do as a mere inconvenience. Expect maybe a slap on the wrist, a scold and getting sent to your room, he doesn't really see a point in going too far, nor does he really want too because he doesn't want you to hate him.
With that said, what would really get him angry was if you tried to escape (especially if you almost succeed.)
In this case I see him getting violent because he is too blinded by his own anger and frustration, a hit from him can seriously sting.
Despite how sweet he is I see Satoru as a pretty selfish type of a yandere in a way, in his head, he believes he's being the perfect boyfriend, lenient, attentive, spoils you rotten, so your want to leave just seems so unreasonable to him.
He believes that you are the one being selfish and inconsiderate, not him, after all, he's a pretty nice captor! So all of that pent up frustration comes out during that punishment.
After he does it? He feels pretty regretful, especially if you're left crying, shaking or worse. He doesn't want you to hate him or be scared of him, he wants you to love him.
His way of making up for it is the gold old credit card, buying a bunch of stuff he knows you like and putting up an all sweet boyfriend act in an attempt to try and move on past what happened as soon as possible.
Definitely not the worst Yandere when it comes to punishments but he still isn't great by any means.
Suguru is the middle ground leaning slightly to the stricter side.
In the first two weeks or so he would make an effort to be more lenient since he understands that you're still adjusting, so for the first weeks you're stuck with him, the punishments would mostly consist of no dinner for the day or a talk where he speaks with a slightly less gentle tone than usual, making a few threats that perhaps your poor loved ones who were wondering where you were could be harmed if you kept up what you were doing.
After the first month or so? You have to suck it up. He has rules and you'll stick by them wether you like it or not.
He still uses the milder punishments for the mild things, like a nasty attitude or pushing his buttons too much.
Anything more severe? Like trying to harm him or escape? Well you just made a horrible mistake because Suguru happens to have a bit of a sadistic side to him so he always makes sure that the punishments are not only for you to learn but also for his enjoyment.
He always loves a good spanking, it's humiliating and insanely effective. (Not to mention very hot for him.) The most severe punishment he would inflict would be forcing himself on you. I see that as far as he'll get.
Suguru often doesn't feel too regretful of what he does to you, even if you're left crying and severely hurt (emotionally that is, if you have some physical pain he would bother to at least get someone to care for it.) I feel like he'd only feel regretful if this action later on leads you to fall into a deep depression or something similar.
With that said, he does make an effort to always try and make it up to you somehow after a punishment, his whole thing however is that he pretends that it just didn't happened (and he will gaslight you about it too), he's doing these nice things just because he loves you so much!
You feel sore after what happened? No idea what you're talking about, hey won't you look at that, he had his chef make your favorite breakfast! So just dig in and enjoy the morning with him won't you?
Suguru is a deeply exhausting man.
I don't read a lot of Toji yandere stuff so maybe this will be an unpopular take for the Yandere Toji community but honestly? I think he just may be one of the most tolerant Yanderes on this list. (Arguably the MOST tolerant even.)
Toji doesn't really do punishments because.. well, he wants to be your boyfriend, not a teacher or parent. Who is he to discipline you like some child or mutt? You're neither of those things and he won't treat you like one.
And it doesn't even come from having so much respect for you (If someone kidnaps you because they view you as theirs they don't really have that much respect for you to begin with.) but because he doesn't really feel like it.
Why would he do something that he doesn't feel like doing and that would just hurt you and put an even bigger strain in your relationship? It's just a loss for both of you.
So have that nasty attitude (he finds it kinda hot anyways) kick, scream, fight. It really won't affect him at all.
Even if you tried to escape, the worst punishment he would do is just dragging you to your room and locking you in there for an hour or two. Really, that's it.
Toji would mostly find himself pissed if he had to lock you in your room and only when he starts to calm down does that a faint feeling of regret come through.
He doesn't want you to be mad at him. He wants you two to work.
So his way of making up would be coming to your room with some cheap (yet tasty) takeout with a look on his face that indirectly asked for a peace treaty. Let's just put this behind and talk. That's what he'd think.
Maybe a little ooc? But this is just the type of Yandere I view him as, sweet to you but someone who'd kill anyone who'd try to get between you and him.
I feel like it's only logical for someone like Higuruma to lean more towards the tolerant side when it comes to being a Yandere.
Higuruma is a very logical guy. He understands your situation and understands why you act out. Of course he doesn't like it, no Yandere does. But he doesn't feel right for punishing you for a reaction he doesn't consider unreasonable.
Talk back or trying to annoy him won't get anything out of him since he sees that as a reasonable reaction, hell, even attempting to attack him won't do anything because one, he can probably overpower you and two, at most that would get you locked in your room for a couple of days.
Now with that said, only if you tried to harm yourself or escape that he'd end up losing it a little. The idea of losing you feels unbearable, so he ends up sounding a little too scary when he scolds you for your "weakness" and a little too aggressive when he grabs you and drags you back home.
For the next few days he can barely look at you, instead of the usual three meals you get one and you stay locked in your room with no form of hurting yourself.. (or entertainment.)
Even so, Higuruma will feel pretty regretful about what he did. It may take him a day or two to think of what to do or what to say to help but that doesn't change how it was always against his nature to leave things alone when he feels like they're wrong. And that stays applying to you of course.
So after your punishment is over he's much calmer and the first thing he does is apologize for his own aggressiveness and then he'd ask to talk.
Maybe the talk wouldn't go super well and maybe you don't 100% agree, but you still came out of that talk not feeling as shit as you did the days prior.
After the talk I think he'd maybe take you out to eat something to make up for the plain meals you had to endure for some days, really show how sorry he actually is.
I cannot see Nanami as anything but leaning for the tolerant side, while I think he's closer to the middle ground, he's still way more tolerant nonetheless.
Nanami constantly thinks over what he's doing and what you'd feel, so doing any harsh punishment really isn't his usual style, still, he has his rules for you and it he really would prefer if you just followed them.
His punishments are normally very mild, like getting certain priveliges revoked like TV priveliges or own room priveliges, speaking of your room, it would also be getting sent to your room and maybe no dinner if he feels like you needed a harsher lesson.
However that doesn't mean he stays like this forever, all it takes is an opportunity to let out all of the frustration building up over the past month after he has a bad day and...
All of this is what would lead him to snap. Nanami would probably feel the most entitled and selfish he had ever been in the time you spent together, he was trying! He really, really was! He loved you so much why couldn't you just see it! You made him do this, he did this because he needed you to understand.
Nanami immediately feels regretful after inflicting a punishment. Even the lighter ones like no TV. Normally, his way to try and make it up is a gentle talk and him buying a little something, he wants to show he cares a little after all..
If it was that punishment however.. he may as well be the first person to die from feeling too guilty. He doesn't know what to do, he wants to make it all better, of course he does, but how can he do so when your body seems to tense with him just getting closer? He felt like the lowest of the low. (deserved tbh.)
He'd take more of a Gojo route and buy some stuff for you, when noticing that you're a little calmer he'd have one of his usual talks, being extra careful, extra gentle, using more sweet nicknames, always keeping his tone soft like you were some freigehtned animal.
In the end, even if he sees himself as a good man, he's just as selfish and as horrible as the men he swore he'd protect you from.
I think it's universally agreed upon that Megumi is a soft yandere at heart, so of course he's pretty tolerant when it comes to his Darling's behavior.
Like father, like son but Megumi just dislikes the idea of "punishments" the word even tasted sour in his mouth.
Punish? You weren't meant to punish, you were a person and he loved you.. he could never treat you like some disobedient dog or something. He didn't feel like it was right to do.
Megumi would proudly say that he didn't do punishments, but that's not how you saw it.
The way you saw it. Megumi was so blinded by his "good" intentions that he doesn't even seem to believe what he's doing are punishments, after all, he doesn't lay his hands on you or force you to do humiliating or degrading stuff so..
Him locking you in a room isn't a punishment.. he's protecting you! It's different. Him hiding away your electronics isn't a punishment, he just.. well, he sees them as bad influences. (And let's not start when he adds those monitoring apps.)
If you do something small like argue or some mild rebellion he wouldn't punish you. Just talk it out.
If you tried to hurt him? That's electronics hidden.
If you try to hurt yourself however? Expect his full monitoring of your behavior, he can't stand the idea of losing you and he would never allow it to happened.
Of course, after a punishment he always feels like shit, he hates seeing you so upset, you're precious to him. He loves you after all.
His way to make it up would probably have to do with getting you a gift, some flowers and the cliche romantic gifts you get your partner.
You wish he wasn't as blinded by his thoughts to see how you really felt.
Ok do I even have to say it anymore you all already know it, he's the strictest Yandere of the list, no doubt on that, it's Sukuna who we're talking about after all.
His leniency lasts exactly one single day. After that you better adjust because he will not be going easy on you.
You are his. You were the one who managed to grab his attention, managed to made his cold heart skip a beat when he thought that wasn't even a possible. Really, he assures you that living with him isn't that bad. You just have to be perfectly obedient that is.
He makes that clear. Obedience gets you comfort and gifts. Disobedience gets his wrath.
If you were just some average person, believe he would not hesitate to kill you immediately, but he loves you. (In his own twisted way.) So he wants to keep you around.
He barely even has mild punishments. While the other yanderes normally tend to take an appropriate punishment for each act, he does whatever he feels like it.
Your tone when talking back was a bit too snarky? Expect a spanking. You tried to harm Uraume or him? Oh that's funny. You're lucky he likes you otherwise he wouldn't hold back as much when giving you a taste of your own medicine.
You try to escape? Perhaps you need a long night with him in bed to remind you of your new life now.
The moons would need to align for him to feel guilty for what he did to you. The way he sees it, you brought this upon yourself, sulk and cry all you want, you made him do it, he has rules and you know it.
He would only get Uraume to help care for you if you were left physically injured. If it's an emotional or psychologically injury? He doesn't care.
With that said, in the rare chance he does end up feeling that faintesy guilt, I'd say it would only be after you're left mentally destroyed, he doesn't know. Maybe seeing you so.. empty made him miss that fire that once sparked in you and he would try in his own way to maybe cheer you up.
(It's still pretty grim though, he says he's taking you out to see a "nice view" and the nice view is actually the destroyed house of some kid who made fun of you when you were a child.)
Not even a red flag, that's a BLACK flag.
