Salt by the Sea

Welcoming the Mumbai rains with a cuppa Masala Coffee (yes that’s a legit coffee) and a slab of murder.

After surviving the hottest (read: cruelest) summer that India has ever had, I was really looking forward to the rainy season. Instead, the rain and the sun have been playing a deeply frustrating game of hide and seek.

So here’s where I long to be, and where I mentally am: amid the lush green hills, with icy winds on my cheeks, and the sun glinting down on me, while I relish a plate of mountain Maggi watching the goodest boy ever enjoy his siesta.

Nothing quite brings me childlike glee like taking a fellow bookworm to the only fiction-focused bookstore in my city. And the book hauls that result from it.

My friend picked an Asimov for me, while I picked them Maus. And of course I had to pick Poe.

Still processing the fact that stunning pieces of art turned out to be genuine curios within this institution.

The foodie in me would not let me celebrate a milestone birthday (my 30th!) unless my dinner was Ratatouille-coded.

And boy did it pay off, with every morsel we devoured.
