Very small coverage pelts, like for eyes, max out at 100s fees unclipped, generally. It's up to the artists whether they want to price the pelt low or high.

Idk why people are constantly quoting wrong numbers on this? They're visible in the FAQ and market.

Absolutely no hate whatsoever on the artist, the work is lovely and I'm glad it got approved. I am however, continuously miffed off by the absolute sheer inconsistency.

Do you have to be a big enough name to get painterly pelts approved or what?

Honestly PB you can have my continued patronage again when we can have a clear answer as to pelt style. Because these big name pelts DO NOT in any ANY WAY resemble the site style. But they're still approved whilst others are being told they have to blur and soften, and remove elements from their pelts.

Sheer favouritism acting with mad abandon. I looked at the pelt database and there are more with the same painterly style.

Let's just hope they use some of that income to get more coders on the minor bugs that inconvenience users, like the white marble thing or herb growing. (Did you know growing 10 seeds at once is kind of pointless?) These fixes should feel faster than closed beta, but they don't atm.

On PB, sponsors can of course sponsor the palette AND the pose charge, I thought that was pretty clear in the other post already. I don't know why you would think sponsorships are only limited to palettes?

Once again the artist doesn't have to mess around with finding sponsors after submission, and then it's done. The FR system is really clunky and annoying in comparison.

So sponsors can soften the blow on FR but not on PB? Lol make it make sense. Sponsors pay part of the palette and pose fees all the time on PB. Artists put the pelt up then don't have to handle anything else like printing. It's objectively better for artists

On FR, the artist has to front the cost and take the hit if the cosmetic doesn't sell, but on PB they don't have to take that risk at all because the fee is just attached to the pelt. It's a way better system.

You still have sink silver to print the items on both sites, and on FR it's quite a lot, plus a hassle.

Also assuming a 200s fee for every pelt is crazy. Most pelts have a lower fee than that; 50-150 is much more common and lower priced pelts sell more given similar quality.

I sell pelts and they're a good source of income on PB. We're only a few months into the game and they'll stay up unattended forever to make me passive income. That's literally what I wanted and why I made them.

I know we're on the salt blog, but can we be a little more aware about the economics of it all? Maybe take a second to look past the knee jerk "making money is evil" thing? I see so many complaints that would essentially leave the site to die.

Folks recoup the cost of the blueprints instead of getting taxed. PB requires you pay just for a single copy for the item to exist THEN the artist still has to add the tax to the overall cost that PB immediately gets. The entire process is exploitable because you are paying money to give the site a service/free art that they continue to profit on. I don't think that's inherently a problem by itself but people really use the word "entitled" sparingly. There's nothing wrong with us paying for pelt palette but that doesn't change the fact that the site benefits more from artists making pelts then artists do. I don't think people want the pelt palettes to be free but the overall cost is a LOT for something that for something that the site profits off of and costs even more to add additional poses.

The entitlement is so bad with PB. It is in fact a privilege to be able to upload custom apparel on these sites, and paying 15-20 bucks per custom is very cheap.

You're forgetting that the free silver generated on site has never been higher than ever with the new favors and weeklies.

You can get silver from favors pretty consistently and weeklies will give you lots of mysterious pouches which each have around 10-20 silver inside. There's also the daily 5 and any from errands. Players can each afford a free pelt or two a week, if not more, and that isn't revenue into the site.

Pelts have been selling a lot more recently and there is more silver movement in general. It already affected the site significantly in the short time we've had the extra silver.

With these changes a healthy silver sink is necessary in my opinion.

I remember mutiple staff trying to tell us that the prices pelts are at now are as low as they can possibly make it. If that's the case then what am I paying 10 to 15 dollars for? The right to have my art on the site alone? You'd think the actual price of the pelt palette would be included in the cost of reviewing submissions but instead we're expected to pay an extra 80 or so silver for more then one pose. Lets say you make an unclipped pelt , it has the misfortune of being 200 silver per print from customers. Sucks for you, you either have to lower the price or hope customers bite anyways. Well you decide you want to add every pose that's 784 extra silver. Not including the 1,500 silver you're paying for a total of 2,284 Lets say it does well and sells like 20 copies at the 200 silver per pelt tax. That's also an extra 4,000 silver. In total PB has made 6,284 silver or around 62 dollars off of your contribution. So if printing skins already submitted is automatic and you've already paid potentially up to 22 dollars worth of silver just to get your art onto the site why is the fee so unreasonably high? And that's if your pelt only makes 20 sales OVERALL. If you keep your pelt listed indefinitely the site can make money off of it forever. All this is to say that this entire system is very exploitative feeling. I know it wasn't designed to be exploitative but it heavily favors PB to an unreasonable degree and it's bar to entry requires art skills, time investment and cash. Artists in turn get some online premium currency if their is popular and does well. Most websites extend an olive branch because they want artists to be making content for the site for free, or in fact PAID to the site it feels like PB grimaces at us for even trying.
