I Feel Your Pain

Mr. Puzzles sat on the bed, his mind wandering to many things that failed to keep his head still. Mario saw him. He sat by the other side and called, “TV-man?” Mr. Puzzles lifted his head to see Mario right next to him. Instead of pushing him aside, he just lets the fat Italian remain sitting. Not that Mario bothered him at all…

“Hm?” The man replied in a low hum, “Do you… Ever feel tired of everything?” He asked without hesitation. Puzzles never expected this question to come from Mario himself. More so, he had been blinded by all the things Mario became; the dumber he went, the more Puzzles believed Mario never knew anything but to make the funny. What else is there from him?

If there's anything else to expect, Mr. Puzzles wanted himself to lie dead on the floor. Reminding all the constant torture he put Mario’s friends through… Even if all of that was over, what was the point of achieving something impossible? What is the point if he can’t try anymore?

… He took a moment. “Sometimes…” he gripped his arm firmly as he spoke, almost too quiet. It can feel so lonely from that feeling. He worked all his dreams, his efforts, and his goal. But in the end? Gone. Nothing. Nowhere else could he start and end up back in square one all over again.

No matter how many times he tried, no matter how much pressure he put on his efforts. It will all end up as nothing. He grew alone, he grew exhausted, he grew nothing but a single purpose he lived up to, nothing but shattered again and again and again…

The hardest part for him to accept is having someone by his side. Someone to accompany him. And he lost that as well… He did that to himself, a single director who worked his life all alone—a whole waste of time.

If only there were someone who adored his shows… He never found the right one until Mario did.

Mario somehow felt the same way as how Puzzles admitted to himself, he felt tired searching for a brief time or more with his friends, but to no avail. Most of the time how busy they were, Mario felt almost alone. He felt tired. He couldn’t admit that to SMG4 and the others; he was supposed to be the fun guy that they got around with. He remained calm and cheerful no matter how much they’ve been going through. 

Sometimes he can’t help but face the truth that– things just never stay the same anymore.

Puzzles felt two hands dragging him down to the mattress, including Mario. His screen flickered shocked expression as the man was pulled, turning to Mario with a confused look. Before he could say anything, Mario embraced him in a tight hug, surrounding him with warmth. 

It was odd. He never thought that he could feel another human being’s touch. It felt…Welcoming…

“What are you doing?” He glanced down at the shorter man; all he could see was his brown hair. Was it just him, or had he never seen Mario without a hat? It almost feels like he could just…

“Hugging TV-man…” His head touched his chest, looking down, feeling all emotions collide at once. Mario didn’t know what else to do… He didn’t know why he did, why he hugged the man. Maybe he just wanted to keep him safe as well. 

Mr. Puzzles kept quiet.

He swore he heard faint sobs coming from the man. Was it all too much?

He slowly adjusted his other arm, wrapping it on the other side. Slowly but surely kept his arms around the little red Italian safe and sound as if he kept him in a cocoon, protecting him like he was the only one that remained alive. Something that Puzzles wouldn’t think too much about. This is Mario after all…

One hand slowly moved, allowing himself to be comforted by the brush of his hair. It felt calming… The two remained steady in place, not wanting to let go of each other. Puzzles let out a low hum as if humming him a song that came from his mother… 

He couldn’t help but think about the memories. 

Maybe just once, he just wanted to feel what it’s like to be alive. To be human again. 

He wanted to feel what it’s like to be hugged again… Not that he’d been waiting for someone to do that for a very long time now…

Maybe... just maybe... A little bit longer...
