Poem
The girls in Afghanistan - This is an edited version of my poem. original piece so please dont take as your own.
Lately I've been thinking
about the girls in Afghanistan.
As I sit in my bed,
with 3 lamps in my room
and a bathroom too.
With the pants in my closet
and makeup in my drawers.
Only a few days ago,
I complained I wish
my hair dye would wash out,
since I had put it in
in August
and now its May.
Sometimes I think
about the boys in Africa
with no water to drink,
while I stand in my kitchen
waiting for my tea to steep.
Now mother is in the shower,
and my dad is at the store.
Since then my eight year old self
has never been the same,
when he read me "A Long Walk to Water",
and I wondered what was his aim.
But today I saw a man
had died from deportation.
And that will be on my mind,
for when I hear a shout of sadness
in hallways at school,
I think about the young girls in Afghanistan,
the ones with husbands much too old.
This last line really irks me let me know of improvement pls!
