I saw on Instagram that a local witchy shop was closing its doors, so we jumped in the truck and went. It felt a little bittersweet walking through a space that had clearly meant something to so many people, but there was also this feeling that the shop’s story wasn’t ending. It was simply scattering into the homes of the people who loved it.

We found little treasures for the kids. My partner fell in love with a beautiful triple moon shelf that immediately felt like it belonged in our home.

And me?

I came home with the chair the tarot reader used.

It’s a deep indigo wingback chair, ridiculously comfortable, and the moment I sat in it I knew. I don’t know how many readings, conversations, tears, laughs, or quiet moments it has witnessed, but now it begins a new chapter in my home.

I love old things with stories. Furniture carries years of hands, voices, and memories. Now this chair gets to watch new witchy workings laid out, new books read, new conversations shared, and maybe a little magic of its own.

Sometimes the universe doesn’t send you signs.
